I never had a problem with what Cam said about Drake or the Pats, especially a couple of weeks ago when he said. His view of the Patriots was a legit one around the country. And the schedule WAS easy.

It was SAS calling Maye a liar which was odious, mean spirited and egotistical. Cam's point at the time just was an option, just not one we would agree with.

Instead of apologizing about his flat out lies that Maye can't throw the deep ball he tries to spin doctor his way out of it. This is purely damage control and it's not even done very well.

I liked Cam Newton the athlete but as a media member he's just another blowhard looking for clicks and views. He knows a lot of people hate the Patriots and that's why he talked negatively about Maye and called them fools gold.

He didn't do his research when he said Maye was bad at throwing deep and now that there's blowback he's trying to make sure his image doesn't get hurt.

I think Cams takes are all pretty terrible from what ive seen of the show but I don’t fault him too much on this. It was stephen a smith who called Drake a liar and tried to ignite all this drama. Ryan Clark and Cam both were trying to diffuse his moronic comments after he said that and defend Drake. Here’s the full clip of that episode:
