NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

Now the Pats ****ing better do something with all that cap space - something big. Selling with a 6-2 team is disgusting unless it's the first in a series of moves. I want a Hendrickson level acquisition after giving White/Dugger away for nothing.
White and Dugger had little value on the team. White was a healthy inactive last week. Dugger had negative value with his big contract. We should be lucky anyone even wanted them, not that they were given away for nothing.

They didn't trade away contributors of significance. That's not really selling.
I will never support a team shedding salary for the sake of saving money for a multi billionaire owner. Spend that money elsewhere now, because this team is more than worth it.

White was contributing nothing, they got all he was worth
Dugger has contributed a bit more but at a very expensive payroll cost. He was a cap dump. His contribution on the field can be replaced fairly easily.

These two moves plus Marcus getting that extension sends a clear message to the locker room.

They weren't helping us win.
We free up cap space and 2 rosters spots.
Someone will be added who will actually help.
Baby steps, somethings coming.

So unless I’m reading it wrong, we essentially got nothing other than getting White and Duggar out of town and some cap space.

I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop

I was just thinking it would be nice if they spend the combined cap savings for an upgrade at safety. Or edge. But especially at safety.

Duggar played full time in 2 wins. Who is the #3 S now?

Jennings is the next one .

Surprise would be trading pop unless they got a 5th rounder or 4th rounder for him .

That’s something. Some might think it’s a pretty good something.

Agree on wanting the other shoe to drop.

Before we storm the castle, there's a week to go before the trade deadline so flexibility is a good thing. Cash & cap for extensions and carrying over for the expanding cost of current contracts needs to be there as well. This crap with it going in Krafty Bob's pockets is BS

Don't discount the 2 6ths, they can be used in a package to acquire players that will actually help.

I kinda feel like they won’t move Jennings because they’re already thin on the edge and he’s been fairly solid. Not excellent but at least semi-productive. Unless they get multiple guys in better than him, he may as well stay.

Pop has come on pretty well the last couple weeks as an intermediate target and jet sweep guy so I’d be hesitant to move him too unless it’s for a pretty decent return. They are kinda deep at WR though.

So it looks like, so far, the Pats have dropped Dugger and White (two guys who have done little for them anyway), lost two 7th round picks, picked up two 6th round picks, gained ~$6M in cap space, and have two open roster spots.
Seems like they added value through subtracting those players.

He played out of necessity, and didn't play well.
I'm not worried about replacing him.

No way I would move Pop, he's just starting to find his grove.
Don't mess with a good thing!

A 6th straight-up will net you a solid veteran on an expiring deal.

Yep. A week to the deadline and teams on the outside looking in will be looking to dump some contracts
