That scares me.They can elevate Richie Grant to 53 man roster.
They also had Lewis Cine in for a tryout.
Not expecting much, but both a better fit for what Vrabel wants than Duggar was.
What'd you expect? Nobody wanted to trade for him before roster cutdowns and he's been riding the bench all year aside from the couple games that Hawkins was out. Trading him now gives us about an extra 5M in cap space versus releasing him after the season so I'm just glad we we're able to move him and get something.Wow. Freakin gave him away.
Dell Pettus? Brenden Schooler?Who is the 3rd S?
@Ross12 and @mayoclinic have it right. For Dugger specifically, they save about $5m in cap space in 2025 and $9.75m in additional cap space in 2026, when factoring in that they’ll be replaced by a minimum salary guy for now.Interested to hear how much we save with this.
So now we need a 3rd safety (or upgrade hawkins) and a 3rd edge
That scares me.
Belichick is such a...
With White gone I'm not sure we get rid of Jennings. Unless we make a splash with a trade, and maybe Swinson is getting closer to being a call-up.We knew that was a long time coming. Next name is Jennings.
...factoring in that they’ll be replaced by a minimum salary guy for now.
Exactly. And his present contract numbers can’t be blamed on someone who was gone before that contract was signed. That has nothing to do with it.
Duggar was a good player for a bit. He fit BB's mold. He isn't the player he was post injury, and doesn't fit what Vrabel wants.
Vrabel is cleaning house and freeing up cap space. The production of Duggar and White can be replaced by JAGs, and possibly upgraded, if not this year, then next.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these trades happened the same day they extended Marcus. I think you’re right. I still doubt they’ll go for a short term high cap cost rental (like Trey Hendrickson), but if a longer term guy becomes available they’ll be all over it. And otherwise, I think they’re going all out in the offseason. If they have a post 2025 offseason like their post 2024 offseason, combined with another good draft, and this team could be a legit Super Bowl contender next year (as opposed to the likely playoff team and any given Sunday from there squad we have now).My opinion, they've seen enough to know it's time to really make some moves to load up around Maye now that they have their guy, they are clearing the runway for either the deadline or to make some splashes in the off season.
Exactly. They pruned some dead wood and rewarded a solid performer. Wielding both carrot and stick at the same time.I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these trades happened the same day they extended Marcus.
