Projecting In season extensions 2025 season- who all and how much ?

Now that we are halfway into the season , which extensions do we sign on now before the prices become insane.

To me it would be these folks

Boutte ( 4/ 52/ 33)
Gonzo ( 4/140/ 95)
Marcus Jones( 3/ 42/29)
Tonga
Chaisson ( 3/ 54/ 26 ?)

Might need to cut dugger and onwenu to make this happen.

Again these numbers are my take and I am not sure if these numbers are valid , too high or low.

Cutting/trading Onwenu, Duggar, Jennings and Tavai gives us about $90M on cap space for 2026.


Players whose contracts expire after 2025:

- Marcus Jones. 3 yrs/$40M given injury hx, $8M 2026 cap hit.
- La'Kaivon Chaisson. 3/$54 seems a bit rich given we got him off the bargain heap. I say 3/$36M, $7M 2026 cap hit.
- Khyris Tonga. 2/$10M about right. $4.5M cap hit.
- Austin Hooper. 1 year/$5M solid, would consider 2/$9 with $6M guaranteed. 2026 cap hit $4-5M

Possibly Jack Gibbens as well, should not cost much.

That makes around $24.5M, leaving $66M.

Players under contract through 2026 who need tp be dxtended:

- Christian Gonzalez. 3/$90M or 4/$120M. Similar to Darryl Stingly. Gonzalez' injury hx will hopefully keep it from being worse.
- Kayshon Boutte. 4/$52/$33 seems about right.

Cutting Dugger is not a question. It's going to happen.

Owenu is most likely in that same category as well. Pats aren't going to pay him $25M.

Pats are going to get rid of two of the worst contracts in Patriots history when they can which is after this season.

All Gonzalez has to do is stay on the field and he's getting at least $25M per year.

I would love to lock up Tonga for a while.

He's 29, so I wouldn't push it more than 3 years, but definitely.

Also, @mayoclinic is on the money. You can get Chiasson cheap, still, and lock him up for 4 years (26), and really the same with Marcus Jones (27 as of last week).

Cowden needs to be aggressive during the bye week though, along with the Gonzalez and Boutte extensions. They're only getting more expensive with each passing day.

Man I love Boutte and everything he's done this year but 25 million? That's top 15 WR money and he isn't that. 4 for 52 almost made me spit my drink until I broke it down as 13 per. Boutte is 23, averaging 18.7 yards a catch. He's already produced more than Brandon Aiyuk ever did, and he's making 30 mil. Boutte's age, production and improvement (he'd be a FA at 24 ffs), will get him huge money on the open market. Christian Kirk and Jerry Jeudy are making 18 mil/yr.

I'm not saying pay him 25 million now, that's insane. I'm saying if he hits FA, after next season, that's what he'll get. I think you could get him for 4/40 if you guaranteed the whole thing.

It all comes down to how much he is willing to bet on himself versus taking security now in a place and QB he has been productive with. You get him at good #2 worst #1 WR money you take that deal. More then that you hope you can draft the next Boutte.

It's important to remember Boutte's only 23. I think he's been making so little, he might go for the security, because even after a 4 year deal, he'll still be only 28, and be able to actually cash in.

Marcus Jones is playing like a top 5 slot CB, is the best PR in the NFL & a team captain. Fortunately for the pats the majority of the NFL won't be interested in a 5'8" CB. There is no excuse not to re-sign him.

Boutte gets more expensive by the game. He's probably projecting for a $17-18M per year contract similar to the Kirk & Jeudy deals.

I think you're pretty close. Gonzo & Marcus might cost slightly more. Boutte will certainly cost more if he keeps playing the way he's been playing. Id expect between 15-20M/year
