I'd love if they went after Simmons. I think there's plenty of playing time for a player like that on the defensive front.

Harold Landry - 80.24%
Milton Williams - 65.71%
Christian Barmore - 65.00%
K'Lavon Chaisson - 57.62% (missed 1 game)
Khyiris Tonga - 40.00%
Keion White - 29.29% (missed 2 games)
Joshua Farmer - 26.67%
Cory Durden - 21.19%
Anfernee Jennings - 15.48%
Elijah Ponder - 9.05%

Jeffery Simmons is playing 77% of the snaps for TEN this year, for comparison.

Give him the Farmer/Durden snaps at DT and indirectly give him White's snaps by reallocating some of Milton Williams' snaps to the White role (more of an edge but also some inside stuff). Bam, right of the bat just found 79.67% playing time if you add those snaps up (though it's not quiiiiiiiite that simple because White missed a game but you get the idea).

Less playing time for Farmer would be mildly disappointing side effect because I think he's a solid performing rookie. So maybe I'd try to salvage some playing time for him by maybe playing Simmons more like 70% and maybe dropping Barmore/Williams down to like 60% each too.

Simmons is simply enough of a beast of a player that finding playing time is never really an issue.

I like the Simmons idea MORE than Olave in reality. Look what that Philly line did to Mahomie and company. Wrecked them. Thats how you get to that smoke and mirrors offense. Rush the hell out of them. Barmore, Williams, Simmons..plus Landry etc. Oh man...talk about a nightmare.

Bill Parcells: You are what your record says you are. We are 5 - 2, not overachieved.
Well they needed a lot of things to happen which did. Drake Maye making that jump - FA success - Draft also looking like a hit *yielding Starters* and Mike Vrabel learning from his first go around as HC. A lot of moving parts contribute to the success of a Team: also a little luck on the field.

Tampa did the same thing.
Patrick was running for his life from start to finish.

The more I hear about it, hmm. Looks like it could work . We don't need to be chasing huge scores and with Maye and offense ticking along we can squeeze juices out of other teams offense .

Will we get him for a 2nd rounder and keion white + Jennings ?

FWIW:

Simmons is definitely already out for this weekend; the Titans list him as "week to week" with a hamstring.

Simmons injury was a big help to the Pats last week, yes, if he can be had for a decent price.

Simmons is a pipe dream…but if it were to occur, what do we view as fair compensation?

I have to think the competition would be fierce. Every team with playoff aspirations and cap room would want him. He’s signed for two more years money comparable to Milton Williams minus signing bonus; big dollars but good value.

He might end up driving price to first round next year and 3 Rd round for 2027. That would be too high for us.

On Zo & Bertrand the question was asked "On their best day can the Patriots beat fully healthy KC or Buffalo"?. Breer said no. Thus, they shouldn't go all in and mortgage the future.

I agree with him to an extent. Especially KC. But beating fully healthy Buffalo in the postseason against that HC is certainly possible.

That is silly. The Pats on their best day can beat KC and Buffalo. Is it likely, who knows? But the Pats didn't have their best day in Buffalo and beat the Bills even if they had players out.

Any NFL team can beat another team on any given day. The best team doesn't always win the SB. The 07 Giants won the SB but were not a better team. It's debatable they were even the better team that day. So much had to go right for them, wrong for the Patriots, to win by....three.

Betrand made a good point. The Patriots have not hit on many guys in the draft past the top ten of the first round. You take a good player when he is available.

I wouldn't get caught up in the semantics of what Breer said. The larger point he made is that to push chips in and really sell out for the current year, you should feel good enough about your odds to win it all to make it worth it. He doesn't see that as likely enough a proposition to do that.

Albert Breer predicted 8 wins this season. He doesn’t know what a talented team looks like.

The 2001 Pats didn't have a chance against the Greatest Show on Turf. How did that work out??

And If we play em and beat em everybody and Granny knows. You know how that goes.

I agree it's is risky. I think that once Swinson gets elevated, he either sticks on the 53 or there is a high chance we lose him. His ceiling is much high than that for Ponder or Jones.
When did he show anything? Looks like Uche 2.0
