NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

You have to be skeptical of anyone who gets benched on the Bungles D.
Maybe he's being used wrong, I haven't watched much Cincy this year.
I have not watched much of Logan Wilson in the pros but in college his play from what I remember seems like it would be a redundancy with Spillane.

Someone that knows more about him please offer up some intel on his play.

Was he benched because he is a liability in coverage?
misses tackles?

Please tell.
I might be somewhat tempted to trade for Logan Wilson. He’d be better than Christian Elliss.

Really though they need edge and free safety help.
He’s 29, in his sixth year in the league. Benched for younger players in Cincy. Might have enough left in the tank to be an upgrade next to Spillane. I found this on ESPN:

The best players who might be available at the NFL trade deadline: Our 1-25 ranking

Yes I’m good with them as backups atm, not panicking if we have to play one of them, or Wallace.
Wallace? as what?

When Wilson was out, Wallace was inactive. I suspect that we would need to look to see who was elevate to backup LG and C while Wallace was inactive. How many NFL reps did this player have. Are they still on the team?

the topic being discussed when I suggested Wallace might be available as a last resort was OT depth, specifically it was my answer to the question “If Campbell or Moses go down you are good with Vederian Lowe or Bryant?” My point was there are several backups already on the roster who have OT experience which is why I’m not panicking about that as a serious problem. It could be improved but there’s no position on this team about which that can’t be said.

Several are much more of a concern. I’d even argue that there are one or two where having the top backup forced to play might be worse than having Wallace on the field.

No-one plays DL 100%. Rotate Simmons, Barmore, and Tonga inside with Farmer and Durden occasionally. Rotate Landry, Chaisson, and Williams outside with White, Jennings, etc. occasionally.
You crazy son of a *****, you might be on to something here. Subscribe!

Simmons - depending on cost - one of the few trades that would really make the team better. He's that good.

In terms of raw athleticism, Milton Williams had JJ Watt-like numbers coming out, better than Keion White:

- JJ Watt (2011): 6' 5 3/8", 290#, 34" arms. 4.84 40, 1.64 10-split, 6.88 3C, 37" VJ, 10' broad, 34 BP.

- Milt Williams (2021): 6'3" 284#, 31.5" arms. 4.63 40, 1.65 10-split, 6.96 3C, 38.5" VJ, 10'1" broad, 34 BP

- Keion White (2023): 6' 4 7/8" 285#, 34" arms. 4.79 40, 1.69 10-split, no 3C time, 34" VJ, 9'9" broad, 30 BP.

Obviously athleticism is just 1 point, and Williams does not have Watt's length. But he is explosive and agile enough to be used outside at times.

Plus we could have threads about whether Milt Williams' arm length is too short for him to play outside.

Any team that likes it's top LT for the season is going to struggle.

Exhibit A: The LA Chargers.

I didn't realize that liking your LT was a bad thing?

I realize they lost Slater, but I figured they were all set because they have Joe Alt to replace him.

Alt was out too for a while.

Simmons would give the Pats a borderline Eagles 2024 SB level DL. Crazy. If they had one more edge guy on the level of Chaisson and Landry that would be a wildly good unit. It'd be great if Swinson could step up and hit on his potential.

I think that Vrabel thinks that the team is worse with Wallace on the field. He would rather elevate players that we never heard of than have Wallace active. Wallace is a young untested prospect for 2026 camp.

If you look at the SB winners for the past 25+ years, almost every one has had either a franchise QB performing at a high level, or an elite defense, starting up front.

Now imagine a team that had both.

Isn't it kinda risky to have Bradyn Swinson on the PS at this point. They're some bottom of the roster guys that make me do this.

I am acting as if we wont make a trade at the deadline. No epectations=no disappointment if there is no trade.

Chris Olave would be a nice acquisition if we can get him: yes I know about the concussion risk but nothing ventured nothing gained. We could move some guys on lesser contracts to sweeten the deal ie... Pop Douglas or KW. Chris Olave could our Transition #1 WR from Diggs in couple of years.
CHRIS OLAVE!!

I agree it's is risky. I think that once Swinson gets elevated, he either sticks on the 53 or there is a high chance we lose him. His ceiling is much high than that for Ponder or Jones.

We know they are rebuilding but the Team overachieved some. With the AFC being kind of Meh: being in the AFC-CGame is not so far fetched: so you make that move to get you that player; if he's available.

Yes, we all agree. I just don't think that Vrabel agrees. He has carried an empty roster spot for most of the year. There are several that could be cut now if Swinson were considered as valuable as you think. Ponder and Jennings come to mind.

Bill Parcells: You are what your record says you are. We are 5 - 2, not overachieved.
