Something just occurred to me and I am wondering what some people think.

Remember in 2004 in the Patriots heyday? We ran every coach and GM worth a damn out of the division. The league and everyone else seemed totally cool conceding it to us. There were some who tried but Rex Ryan, while a good defensive guy didn't do much outside of his short stint. He seemed to enjoy the idea of challenging the Patriots, but none of the true top guys in the league wanted any part of the Brady/BB duo and I understand why. Pats of it is cause these were not huge market teams, but still....

However right now we are in the middle of the KC heyday. They have absolutely dominated their division and the NFL as a whole more or less. The new dynasty on the block with the combo of Mahomes/Reid... Yet in 2024 Right in the middle of their reign Harbaugh says.... I'm going to jump on the Chargers. Sean Payton in 2023 says... Let me jump on the Broncos. The talent hasn't rushed away from the AFCW in hopes of an easier path. It is there to challenge it.

Why? Just a different mentality? Or perhaps are they seeing something we aren't? Do they feel this duo will not be able to hold the reigns of the NFL into Mahomes 30s? Do they believe they see some flaw in their design which once they've built their teams they can punish? It is just interesting. Did BB/Brady just have more of an aura or is it completely random?

You respect a good offense but it's a strong D that strikes fear in an opponent's heart. The Chefs D was adequate last year but overall their defense hasn't been anything to fear for the past half dozen years. I think a solid opponent looks at the Chiefs and thinks, 'we can score on these guys'

The teams in the AFCW have churned coaches since 2018, hoping to close the gap between them and the chiefs...
Denver - 5 -Vance Joseph, Vic Fangio, Nathaniel Hackett, Jerry Rosburg (interim), Sean Payton
San Diego - 4 - Anthony Lynn, Brandon Staley, Giff Smith (interim), Jim Harbaugh
Las Vegas - 4 - Jon Gruden, Rich Bisaccia (interim), Josh McDaniels, Antonio Pierce (Interim/Hired)

Its the same thing the teams in the AFCE did during our epic run... churn and burn coaches every few years searching for answers to the Killdozer that ran rampant through the division for 20 years... a lot of the guys who came into the afce weren't stumblebums, they were highly sought after coaches & coordinators...

The tricky thing about dynasties is that you can never know at the time when they've begun, and you can never know at the time when they've ended.

That being said, I think we've reached the end of the "KC heyday". At the very least, they're well into the back 9 and getting their drinks ready in the clubhouse.

KC has been trending downward for years, but the AFC has been so bad they kept stumbling into Super Bowls. Their teams from 2022 to 2024 wouldn’t even make the playoffs in the early 2000’s.

Their roster is getting older, but the Pats are the only AFC team that actually improved. The rest of the playoff teams are just banking on the draft.

I don’t even hate the Chiefs. They don’t make the cut when it come to the Jets, Ravens, Steelers, Broncos and Colts.

Score was settled in the playoffs via 2-0 Brady and the 41-38 game. The “ we’re on to Cincinnati” game was the catalyst game to another championship so I’m not even mad about that one.

Lol. Drake Maye also unfollowed the Patritos wow!
My favorite response was Prescott has unfollowed the Covvboys.

The Chiefs have never been a more complete team. The AFC is pretty doomed unfortunately, and on the NFC side it only looks like the Lions can stop them from a fifth Lombardi.

The Power Rankings folks don't agree. In spit of there being 9 teams having a better record than KC's 4-3, including two who beat them head-to-head, USA has them at #1, CBS at #2 , and NFL and SI at #3. Overall they're at #4.
Just like Rocky Graziano, somebody up there likes them.

The Ravens never feared the Pats great teams, always played them tough, even in off years for them. Being well coached makes a difference.

Yeah... definitely 'Not A Chiefs Fan'

What a chump

I'll agree with him as far as this goes: they are so much like the 2018 Pats. Not the most talented but battle tested. They are the kings of the AFC until someone knocks them off.

I thought Ricky Proehl did a pretty good job calling it..... though not the way he expected.

The Chiefs are similar to the Pats the prior 20 years. Even when they aren't strong on paper and go through a lull early in the year, they are still formidable and teams know they are the team to beat and top dog. Some teams will psyche themselves out against them and the Chiefs go into every game believing they will win while the teams they play come in saying "**** we have to play the Chiefs"

Beside being a great team KC seems to have things going their way. This season almost all of their tougher games are at home.

And then there's the refs.

They aren't invincible though. Three losses in 7 games proves that.

They never get injured. Like ever lol.

Nobody is invincible. Not even the 07 Pats were. And people were saying that before the postseason.

They've never had to face a Peyton Manning type QB in the postseason or a 04-09 Steelers like D. That's not a knock. You can only beat who is in front of you. But I feel like the Patriots beat much better teams--Ravens, Colts, 04 Steelers, 06 Chargers etc. Then the SB, Patriots beat 01 Rams, 04 Eagles, 2014 Seahawks, and 2018 Rams. Chiefs have never defeated an opponent that good. The AFC is garbage.

I'd say the Eagles would be a bad matchup for them too. If they get some tomato can like GB or TB, forget it. It's over. 4 SB titles in 7 years. 3 in 4. Dynasty.

I disagree with pundits who say that Brady wins over Mahomes in postseason should not matter. So if Mahomes gets to six SB wins, he is now the GOAT? Nope. Those two wins are probably what will keep Brady as the forever GOAT. And I'm a Chiefs fan saying that. You cannot discount that.

What Mahomes does have over Brady thus far is he has never lost to a Plummer, Sanchez, Eli type QB. At least according to Wright, Sharpe, and Simms.

The Giants, Ravens, and Jets (2010) never feared the Patriots. That probably helped them in some way. If you go in with a losing attitude, you get blown out.

The only team who deep down probably doesn't fear KC are the Eagles.

Wright is a Chrefs homer so his opinion on that team can be disregarded.

Mahomes has never beaten Brady in the biggest games and that matters more than anything else. And when you have a 20+ year career you'll get beat once in a while in the playoffs.
