NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

My brother in Christ, did you see Spencer Joe Montana Rattler against us last week??….
Yes. If you read that post in full context I'm mocking the idea people here have that because a unit is overall productive that there aren't weaknesses or areas to address on it. I very much think we should look for some defense improvements.

Have people seen how often teams put an extra man in the box against us this year which has contributed to our poor running game? Do people see how many hits Drake Maye takes from tucking the ball and running with it because he can't find someone open. The passing offense is producing at a high level so far but adding a quality 3rd WR to use on actual passing plays rather than an unreliable Douglas, a not-ready-to-play-yet Williams, or blocking specialist Hollins would help smooth out those rough spots. So all I've said is that despite an overall good passing offense we should still look for an upgrade there. Yet people act like I'm the friggin antichrist over that because if it aint broke don't fix it. Hence me mocking those posters saying that but at the same time thinking we should add to a defense that's similarly producing well overall so far this year.

Maxx Crosby? If so, what would it require. He’s 28 with years left on his deal..

He was injured on Sunday vs the Chiefs but I don't know the extent of the injury. I do love this idea, but do not see it happening

Parsons just got moved for 2 1sts and a pro bowl DT (though he's 30 so on the older side). He was younger, but also needed to hammer out an extension at 4 years, $186M ($46.5M/year). Crosby signed for 5 years and under $30M/year for the new team assuming the deal, so more favorable contract term.

Using the Parsons trade as a starting point, probably looking at Barmore and our '26/'27 1st rounders. DAL specifically wanted a DT though so that part might not be Vegas' preference. But that's a fair approximation of the Parson trade which would be a fair starting point for Vegas to ask, IMO.

Arden Key seems like the most logical target, assuming TEN isn't bitter about trading with Vrabel/Cowden.

1) Position of need.

2) A guy Vrabel brought in and coached before in TEN so scheme familiarity.

3) Plays for a team that makes logical sense to sell.

4) Since pass rush is such in demand the return is probably enough that it's worth TEN's while to make a move, BUT also he's a limited enough player that the cost shouldn't be so obscene that it's not worth it for us.

5) Even though he's a FA after the year, so is Chaisson and we have nothing on the edge besides Landry under contract next year so we're obviously going to have sign some depth which means he could be a guy you want to get in the building with the intention of competing to re-sign him after the year or even extend him now if he's open to it.

You mean the guy who put up 13 points, was **** out in the second half and handed us 7.
You must be confusing Joe Montana with Hanna Montana.

1) Agreed. Though Vrabel and Co just added Caleb Murphy.
2) Agreed.
3) Agreed, though Key is actually injured currently. And so is Simmons. They'd just gotten their big man on the Line back in Sweat.

You're incorrect about the number of edge players under contract for 2026. Besides Landry, the Pats have Ponder and Jennings. They've also got Swinson on the PS whom they are investing a lot of time in to try and get him capable.

There aren't many players available who would be an upgrade over Keion White or Elijah Ponder.

Arden Key (Titans) is 29.
Cam Jordan (Saints) is 36
Jaelen Phillips (Phins) is 26
Dre'Mont Jones (Titans) is 28.
Malcolm Koonce (Raiders) is 27
Cam Thomas (Browns) - 25
Alex Wright (Browns) - 25

They're all UFA. I'd go for Thomas or Wright unless Vrabel feels they don't fit. Dre'Mont Jones would be my choice since he's plays the run above average and is a solid tackler.

I’m explaining why we need to add an edge rusher, safety & LB depth. Context buddy…

No way would I trade Barmore.

Yeah. Lots of explanations posted on here about how we need to improve or add depth at safety, CB, LB, edge, DT, OL, WR, and RB. It’s amazing we aren’t blown out every week with so many needs. No wonder out season is going so poorly, right?

well then you aren’t doing a very good job of it.

There's a tier of "holy ****" acquisitions, which would include Hendrickson, Hall, Crosby, Phillips, etc. None are likely, but this team is worthy of a big move and we can dream.

We need some depth at certain positions. What’s so difficult to understand?…
