This story is getting strange.

I’m not in anyway involved in this bet, but couldn’t he just not be a negative Nancy constantly instead?
I don’t believe that is possible.

I wouldn't waste my time with this Cunningham character. The account is intentionally negative, trying to piss you off and get your panties in a bunch.

My recollections may have morphed over time, but I have a positive perception of Sam from earlier days on this board so I think he’s changed over the years, as we all have.

I don’t think I would have a positive view of anyone who had always shown intent to piss folks off. So I think this comment is intentionally aggressive, and perhaps more a reflection of the author more than the subject of his comment.

I’m concerned for Sam. I think his negativity is a reflection of his current mindset. I don’t recall that same degree of corrosive negativity from years ago, and again I don’t think I would have the positive regard for Sam that I do if his attitude was always so negative. Depression sucks, and there’s a lot going on these days that could make even optimists depressed.

I’m concerned for this board. We are here because we share a passion for the Patriots. We should be a community. Our passion should be a positive force, uniting us. We shouldn’t be cruel or hostile to each other. We can have fun poking and teasing each other but that shouldn’t be hurtful or harmful. When it becomes hurtful or harmful it’s destructive to the entire community. I fear we are crossing that line with Sam. He has recently been less negative and even a bit positive, and this seems aimed at killing that improvement.

I’m also concerned by the irony that discussion of what seems to possibly be a mental health issue with a player that’s been Sam’s binky is taking this turn. The negativity of some comments towards Sam is as bad or worse than any negativity Sam has expressed. He’s been negative about the Patriots. You all are being negative about Sam personally. That’s harmful and hurtful, and is going too far. I’ve seen hints of it in other interactions as well, this is just the most immediate and obvious. We all need to stop being mean to other Patriots fans.

I’m new here. But I agree 1000%. Sam is negative, but he’s not offensive or a jerk or nasty to other folks.

I rather enjoy his presence

I will be gone from the board if pats make the playoffs and will not post under any other name.
My word is true.
Sam. It takes all types to make this board
It’s all right to be negative when it’s called for
Huck asked that if we make the playoffs just stay possitive
Why wouldn’t you not if you are a real Pats fan
Don’t quit the forum
Your a Pats fan. Enjoy what is happening with the team
If negativity is called for we most likely will agree
You get more with honey than vinegar

I didn't agree with the original post but that's not a reason to attack the guy. All of us have been "negative" at some point or another.

Instead of leaving maybe Sam could agree to add a sig to his posts for a period of time? That's what I would do if I made a bet like that.

I don’t think Sam should leave, either. I wish he could be as excited by this year’s Pats as I am, but positivity can be hard for some people. But leaving isn’t going to help.
