Actually theft of used cooking oil is very common, it’s actually worth a decent amount of money.

This story is ridiculous, why would Sanchez give a **** that the used cooking oil guy is part in a s loading zone behind the hotel, apparently Sanchez was stopping the guy getting back into his truck and kept repeating,”I talked to the manager and he said you can’t park here”.

The only reasonable excuse is drugs, maybe he got a hold of some good stuff and was just high as a kite.

Imagine years from now, when Sanchez describes how he ruined his life and career, the story starts with “the used cooking oil guy was parked in the loading zone…..”

Surprising considering some of your posts. But, its doable if you have a good Attorney which Sanchez can afford.

First off, the 69 year old claimed that he feared for his life.

1. Did Mr Sanchez threaten to kill you?
2. Did Mr Sanchez have a weapon?
3. If you feared for your life, then why didn't you lock yourself in your vehicle and dial 911?

Michael Browns parents sued the city of Ferguson, Mo and won a settlement for excessive force after their son assaulted a Ferguson police officer and tried to take his weapon.

Without reading more of the facts other than what has been posted here. I will answer some of your questions. There is no need in a prosecution for the suspect to tell the victim what they intend to do, if he did it just makes him more dumb than we currently think he is. The fact there isn't a weapon does not necessarily impact that someone is in fear for their life. Many people have been beaten to death by someone without a weapon, its fairly common. You then asked what the victim did or didnt do and the law doesnt require them to do anything. It will be looked through the lens of what would a reasonable person think or do. In this case the facts ( I am assuming) will be the victim was at the scene work related. Not sure why Sanchez was there but it sounds like to have drinks. Then the fact that Sanchez was allegedly intoxicated, the sex/size/age of the parties would all be taken into consideration. The chain of events matters as well. If the victim thought they were gpoing to be assaulted and maced Sanchez for only Sanchez to then come back at the victim in the vehicle then I am confident there is a strong argument supporting the fear for the victims life which resulted in Sanchez getting stabbed. That will be a huge consideration in the case.

If I am missing some facts then I apologize and could be off base.

As for the Michael Brown situation. I will tell you that civil law suites happen all the time, anyone can sue anyone. Just because the city settled does not necessarily mean they accept fault. We had a bar that was slinging and the "security guards" were in on it. Swat executed a search warrant and the security guard pulled a weapon and got smoked. The commonwealth (DA in the north) reviewed a confirmed a good shooting, no charges against any PD. The city was sued by the family and they paid them about $200k (back in the late 90s). We were not happy they did that and said to take it to trial. Later l learned from inside the city it was a business decision, it was cheaper to pay them and avoid more press time rather than drag out in court for a couple years. Bottom line is settlements doesnt always mean accepting at fault.

I'd like to know what was a 69 year old man doing with mace and a knife when picking up used cooking oil?

Sanchez would have to have some real personal demons to run into a back alley and jump a guy picking up used cooking oil. There is something left out we don't know about. It's not adding up.

He would have the mace for a situation just like this. He obviously goes into alley ways of bars (at night) and you could imagine what you may find. The knife could be work related? What if he had a gun? As long as he is open carrying or has a CW permit he is within his right, but perhaps violates a work policy.

Compound this with after being maced he didnt leave which he should have but he then tried to enter into the victims vehicle to "get" the victim.
