I’m reading Jared Wilson is out and Ben Brown is starting in his place and we signed a ex packer for the O line.

Missing practice with an "ankle/knee" injury.

Damn this where the preseason fear starts to kick in.

During preseason I was encouraged by the starting 5 well at least 4 of the 5. Bradbury had me a little concerned so far he's been solid and probably even better than Wilson, Onwenwu, and Moses.

During preseason I figured our problems would really come when we started to need to rely on our depth. Hopefully since Bradbury has been better than I expected that we can now withstand one injury.

Simply put this was a very scary scenario in preseason but giving the way Campbell, Bradbury, Moses, and Onwenwu have played Brown doesn't seem quite so scary.

But we certainly can't afford more injuries and for this to be long term.

Wilson has also played well. The 2 rookies have held down the left side much better than many expected.
They're only going to get better.
Our depth is not great so losing any starters could be a problem

If Wilson needs a week, I am semi-confident that Ben Brown can hold down the fort for one week against the Panthers. Obviously would prefer to have Wilson but at least it's not stiffer competition.

Still, it's only Wednesday's report - don't need to necessarily fear he will miss time yet.

Derrick Brown is no pushover, it will be a pretty stiff test

Yah. Brown isn’t anything to write home about but he’s not the worst.

If Wilson doesn't play this week, I suspect he'll be back and good to go next week as the two problems he has don't appear to be serious. Like you said, if Brown can just give us one solid game and Wilson picks up where he left off, we'll be good.

I just watched the "TOP 5 D BROWN PLAYS (2024)" youtube and 3/5 he played straight up over the RG. 2/5 he played in the C-RG gap. So; either he isnt so dangerous on left side or the ****ycats just dont play him there.

More-likely a problem for Onwenu; not Brown.

Depth is their greatest weakness, and I'm not sure they can get that fixed in this coming offseason. It could well take two more offseasons to get the roster fully fixed, but I'm fine with that as long as they keep going in the right direction.

They have him listed as Right DE (in a 3-4), so assumed our Brown would see plenty of him. Didn’t check any video myself and I certainly havent watched and Panthers games this year, so I could be way off.

I have a hard time finding any L or R side definitions on either side of the line on websites. I only saw "DE" for him and likewise: OL for Onwenwe-Brown-Wilson, OT for Campbell.

-What website was showing him as RDE?

thanks. BSPN was deleted from my bookmarks a while back as a passive-agressive retribution. I guess i need to go back.

I hope your right. I think most thought in July Gonzo casually walking off the field with a pulled hamstring would result in him still being ready for the season opener.

Where did you read he’s out? All I see is he didn’t practice.
