You most certainly have a problem admitting you’re wrong.

That type of pass was not open, but you refuse to be objective.

Look at where Echols is when that ball has left Maye’s hand. He is a much better position to intercept the pass IF IT WASNT TIPPED.
A low throw was never open there, tipped or not.
An arching throw to the corner was WIDE OPEN.
I disagree 100% and I've watched the play a bunch of times, it's a TD if not tipped, NO WAY he gets back to pick that. It's a 3 yard buffer with the ball almost halfway to Boutte and the defender took a step toward Douglas first, had little momentum to get back. Just no way that's not getting to Boutte clean without the tip. That's a GIANT window in NFL QB terms.

That doesn't change the fact he should have put air on it to the corner as the goal line is congested but it was a TD if not tipped. 100%.

And on a separate note, not to pile on Douglas but got to call it as it is and point out why he needs to be benched for Chism.
The play before Douglas didn't get the 4th, he prevented Henry from getting the first down as well.

Douglas has 1 job on this play: clear out the middle, he should run as fast as he can and take the DB with him as the middle is wide open. He, again just like on the almost pick earlier, starts to jog on his route as he nears where Henry is (well before the screenshot), he even starts looking back for the ball even though he's not the main read and he's not open, though maybe he would have been open if he actually ran instead of jogged.

Then you see the DB he did not take with him as was his job on the play, is the one that comes up and stops Henry a yard short. Again, it was zone and AGAIN Douglas does not know what to do against zone. He is good against man overage but continually messes up plays in zone. I don't know why coaches aren't seeing this and giving Chism his reps.
Bedard pointed this play out when he was doing tape review, it is maddening what Douglas did here.

Ty Law said Maye should've thrown the ball to the corner of the end zone. CB would've been out of position to make a play. One of the radio guys fought him on it which was funny.

Just like Ring 6 argued me on the exact same thing.

The played called for a touch pass to the corner, not a line drive through 2 defenders. Look at the images I posted earlier in this thread. Echols was in position to intercept the ball even if it wasn't tipped.

I have no problem admitting I am wrong if I am.
The play called for Maye to throw the pass he did and it was open.
You don’t teach QBs to not throw on time but wait to loft the ball and hope the receiver alters his route by having esp that a dl could knock it down.

If the play was designed as a corner route, it would have worked better in hindsight, but it wasn’t.
Hmm.

Who to believe, Andy or Ty Law?

So hard to decide.

but a qb runs the play that’s called and that call was for him to make the throw he did.
Why does the Vrabel ...

“It shouldn’t have been a flat one,” Vrabel said. “Obviously, just having an idea of where that guy is and being able to put some air under it.

I'm with Ty Law. I did hear an interesting observation, don't remember who said it, might have been Barth or Lazar. During practice that play should always be with loft and not flat and it should be practiced that way each time. That makes sense. Doesn't mean it isn't practiced that way. Maye could still have made an aberrant throw. Or maybe, Cam Heyward is not someone to mess around with.

Law's explanation was that the CB can't flip his hips around to make a play on the ball after he already committed inside.
There's no talking with Ring, he think he knows more than everyone else and simply won't admit when he's wrong.
He argued me on it and since then:
Maye said he should've put some air on the throw
Vrabel said he should've put some air on the throw
Chris Simms said he should've put some air on the throw
Ty Law said he should've put some air on the throw

But still he refuses to cut his loses and concede defeat. Tells me everything I need to know.

True or not, that was not what the play called for Maye to do. Maye wasn’t sitting in the pocket surveying the field, he dropped back on timing and threw to his first progression at the point he was intended to in the play design.

Maye executed the play the way it was designed. It not ripped it’s a TD. Hindsight is 20/20. BECAUSE the ball was tipped hindsight changes.

There is nothing for me to concede. If you are trying to argue that a QB should change the play because he has ESP that the DL will tip the ball, that’s just but how it works.

Boutte ran a corner post route which was a TD. Maye threw it inside for some reason.

There was a clear miscommunication on the play. Even if Maye put air on it, Boutte was running in the opposite direction. He would've had to make a twisting acrobatic catch.

My biggest concern is that Vrabel will start Stevenson and Douglas again on Sunday like nothing happened. Where's the new culture of accountability we were promised?

How do u know that?

Vrabel outcoached by Tomlin on Sunday period.
If Tomlin knew they could fumble, vrabel should know.

That's as simple minded as it gets. The Patriots completely outplayed the Steelers but Tomlin outcoached Vrabel because he told his players to try and get turnovers. Wow Sam, a coach telling his players to try and get turnovers, that's never happened before, you're right, Tomlin is a genius. I'll bet he's going to tell his offense to try and score a lot of points this week.

I mean, I'd do anything to make a big WR trade right now.
Trade a 3rd Pick for Meyers. Someone like that who can play slot and Z, and just knows how to convert 3rd downs.
Pop has not been a valuable piece. He's done nothing.
I think they work with what they have. Save those decisions for the offseason. If I thought that they were one player away from the Playoffs, I'd agree. But, I think we have to be honest and admit that they're still, even if Maye is "the guy," a season away from contending.

Belichick left a mess. Mayo was, as I predicted out here on the day he was appointed, set them back another two or three seasons.

It took the Steelers, a well-owned and managed franchise, 26 years to get back to the SB. I don't care whether we like them.
The Giants, another solid franchise, 17 years. Ditto on the "whether we like them."
The Cowboys (NOBODY like Jerruh, but he's somehow built the most valuable franchise in sports globally) haven't been back since Aikman.

Great post. I'd add if the opportunity presents it's self, and it makes sense for now and the future to acquire a WR that will be here when we get good again then I believe Vrabel does it. The most important thing here is we have the QB.
