Why isn't Efton Chism III playing?

Chism has that thing. Say what you will but you saw it in the preseason. He gets open, he catches the ball, he’s where he’s supposed to be. In other words he seems quite reliable.

Josh’s offense works best with a high volume slot receiver. If Douglas can’t be that guy, which appears to be the case, it’s time to try Chism.

WR isn't the problem and why the Pats lost today.

RB is and Mayes mistakes accounted for 4 turnovers. The Maye fumble was brutal and a back breaker. Rham fumbles a TD away and then Gibson fumbles.

Goal line fumble and interception were the 14 point swing that killed us. Both mistakes were breath taking.

Turn the computer off and go to bed. You have chores to do in the morning.

But he threw more passes to Chism than anyone in camp, but let’s not put him on the field.

Maye threw very few passes to Chism. The other QBs would've thrown only to Chism if they could.

There is a great difference between the cost of the errors by Maye and those by the RB's.

Maye caused lots and lots of good things to happen. There was much good to say about this performance.

On the other hand, the performance of the RB's was BOTH poor and very costly.

Good question. OBVIOUSLY Chism oughta be given a shot. It's not as if our WR room is chockablock with brilliant alternatives. The coach is better, although he needs to stop being such a ****y when players need to ride the pine for a while. The O-line is better. Drake still looks promising. The secondary still might be good, particularly if Glass Boy can get his soft ass back in the game. The RB room has talent, even if Rhamondre is too stupid to hold onto the ball. It's time to get a DC who can show up for work. And so on.

Get your **** together, Vrabel. The Charming ******* shtick is wearing thin. Be a coach. Play the players.

Pop was hopeless today. Two balls he just lost control and fell down and the last ball he just tried a juke move to avoid getting hit . If he cannot generate 1 yard after catching the ball, we don't need him.

I thought hollins played really well. Pop is technically useless with his route running, uselessness In zone schemes, no yards after catch and then zero field awareness and zero blocking ability.

Very poor mans Brandin Cooks

Only someone clueless would object to your post: spot on.

has anyone ask Mike about this?

I get the frustration, but I honestly think part of it is still evaluation and seeing what he has. If this really were a playoff team, you'd see quicker hooks. I mean, they gave Christian Elliss 2 and a half games to prove he's not an NFL player and got yanked today. Austin also got yanked today. They put in Tonga in the 2nd quarter for a lot more snaps than he's been getting and Pittsburgh couldn't run anymore.

He's handling it like a rebuild, and he *should* be.

It's not his fault there's a large portion of fans who got high on their own supply in the offseason and thought this was a playoff team.

Agreed. Scott Pioli was on post game yesterday and said this team is still not complete and Vrabel's still putting his touch on it. What the team does have is a QB and Drake has enough to at least be competitive while the team is still rebuilding.. I look all around the league with teams 1-2 and 0-3. It's possible for this team to show growth and become competitive once they learn how to stop beating themselves. This has to drive Vrabel crazy. I think we have to correctly continue to elevate all the young guys on the roster.. for example what has Hollins done so great that Williams can't see more snaps? Or that chism is continuing to be inactive. Even though this team is still rebuilding it can still be a team in the hunt and possibly make a playoff berth if they stop beating themselves.

Hollins isn't ahead of Williams, he's ahead of Douglas. Boutte is ahead of Williams, if you're looking at it like that.

But seriously, stop with the playoff team stuff. That's just huffing copium. I'm looking for improvement, and I'm looking for Vrabel and company to get players in there they think they can play. Giving rookies huge snaps before they're ready isn't usually a great solution.

Elliss played himself onto the bench today. So did Austin. Give these guys a chance and if they can't play, yank them. Already seriously limiting Dugger's snaps.

Now, when he starts yanking Onwenu, that will make people take notice, I imagine.

The WRs on this team stink. The TE leads the team in receptions and yards. No WR is getting 50 yards/game. Boutte is the only WR averaging over 10 ypc. Weakest position on the team except maybe LB.

Hopefully Diggs improves as he gets further from injury. We can try playing Chism and Williams more. Beside those two things the Pats are stuck with what they got until the offseason.

Why stop with the payoff stuff? It's a realistic goal to work towards. We see teams each season make the postseason that we probably would say aren't a contending team. It's easy to look at the team now and say what they won't be. I agree let's see the team improvement over the season and see where they end up.. also regardless who the pecking order is Williams should be given more opportunities we drafted the kid let him have more opportunities we know what Hollins is. All I'm saying my guy..

We shouldn't be evaluating Douglas in year Three: he's playing a Offense that's suits his skill set. Our TE's are getting the job done: and Our RB's also Fumble Rham is a better receiver than Pop Douglas embarrassing.

Because they're not good enough to be a playoff team. They don't have the players.
They had 4 wins last year, and three were ******** luck, this was the worst roster in football 2 years running. They got some pieces. There's still gaping holes that aren't going to be fixed this season. It is what it is.

Oh I agree. Both Douglas and Stevenson would be in an Uber on the way to Green if it were up to me. Stevenson's 12 million dead cap is keeping him on the team right now. No idea why Douglas is still here. It's funny, Maye is super accurate to literally everyone else on the team, except Douglas, then it's suddenly 'a bad throw'. He's a liability in the run game, which is why Hollins is getting so much run.

Guys like Hollins and Moses and Bradbury are band-aids. Bridges. Here for a year or two until they can re-stock the cupboard. That's why i don't get why people are so up in arms about them, and then I realize these are the same people that thought this was somehow magically an 11-win team this year. They're not great, but they're at least representative pros. Douglas and Stevenson and Austin and Christian Elliss are bush league, and wouldn't be on another roster.
