Patriots Player Departure Polk traded to Saints

Polk was BPA in Wolf's system?
Perhaps, but there was a lot of talk about Wolf getting input on Polk from coaches which was key to the decision.
==============
I think that most media and probably many team boards had DeJean as the BPA. I dare say that few had Polk as he BPA.

Nah, we saw this guy week 1. He can't play.
Maybe not, we never know until we see them in camp, but we know Polk can’t play and losing him did not negatively affect the WR room.

IOL is a position of need, and Powers-Johnson might still be developed.

a fine choice
or one of the DT's: Sweat or Fiske
or one of the CB's: DeJean, McKinstry, Lasiter
=========
I can understand the team not wanting Mckonkey. Many didn't, and there lots of choice rated higher or close to him in value.

I even understand the trade down in order to get the 4th.

I would simply draft DeJean. DeJean PLUS a 4th would have been great.
This is 20/20 hindsight. Please show us where you said anything close to this in 2024. Anything close? No? I didn't think so.

McConkey plus Maye is a great 2024 draft. Wolf blew it, and he should be fired. Polk, Wallace, Baker, and Robinson are very weak picks.

They did not get a 4th. They swapped 2 for 2. Major difference that I keep seeing incorrectly repeated in the media and here.

Chargers received: 34 and 137

Patriots received: 37 and 110

could it be as simple/stupid as they dont like the “mcconkey” name?

^this. I think Mayo and his staff had way more influence than any of us realize. Especially at this point in his tenure; he was in the honeymoon phase.

We have to remember that The Pats were run by Bill, and he had final say on all of it. There's no reason to think that RKK just changed out Bill with Mayo and everything else stayed status quo.

Don't be Bill, you're in charge, have at it.

Instead of firing Wolf, RKK fired those who made the decision: the HC and the coach who gave the advice.

Just BTW, I misread your post. I did not check what I posted during the live draft. However, I know that didn't want a WR but rather wanted the BVA or BPA. In any case, I didn't think that the value at our pick was at WR. I was surprised by the choice of Polk, more than I would have been by the choice of McConkey. I would have been fine with the choice of several of the alternate choice at the time, especially the CB's (and especially DeJean). Then, as now, we needed an additional CB to compete with Austin for reps, and to be available when Jones is injured.
==========
The draft was a very weak one.

You believe that Maye and McConkey would have been a great draft.
I believe that Maye and DeJean would have been a great draft.

And hindsight being 100%, I still would rather we draft DeJean rather than McConkey.

I doubt the HC and coach decided on draft day trades.

I advocated for DeJean during the draft, but it is only random if I pick the right guy - I am not scout.

I didn’t even know he was gone.

But then again someone said the gubmit’s shut down. I didn’t know that either.

I’m confused. What else do I not know?

Remember that monster under your bed?

It really IS there.

Sleep tight.

That Justin Fields' RPOs aren't 'unstoppable'.
