Yeah, there's a reason everyone was trying to trade up for Maye and not settle with JJ. Hell, even ATL took injury risk Penix over him.
Maye looks awesome on a 4-13 caliber team and McCarthy looks trash on a playoff caliber roster.
I didn't understand McCarthy jumping into the first round at the time and it makes even less sense the more I watch him in the NFL. He has the best WR in football and he's hot garbage, rookie or not.
He was carried at Michigan, but somehow impressed scouts with his "personality" and a couple throws in shorts and suddenly he was getting TB12 comps...
Small sample size, granted, so will have to revisit, but I'd be stunned if JJ becomes a better QB than Maye in this league - they're only 5 months apart in age.
