Drew Bledsoe wouldn’t be a top 10 QB in this day and age
Bledsoe struggled to read defenses.

It was either Gil Santos or Geno Cappelletti who summed up the difference between Bledsoe and Brady perfectly. He said that Bledsoe was a "reactionary" passer and that Brady was a "anticipatory" passer.

It would mean the Pats found their Philip Rivers or Andy Dalton.

Just good enough to keep the job, but not good enough to win a Championship.
Eli Manning won 2 championships, Chicago got 2 a SB with Rex, there are alot of examples of teams that have won with sub elite play from a QB, not of course that was then.. however a team needs good play from the QB position to even get thier team into the conversation.

The 2024 QB class could go down in history, rivaling or surpassing 1983's. We'll see. McCarthy will be very good, as are Nix and Penix. Williams-Daniels-Maye should all be great. The pecking order at this point is a toss-up. All 6 were starters in year 1 and all look like permanent fixtures.

It’s what 2021 should have been but wasn’t

Interestingly enough.. notice how some of these QBs have top end WRs to help their growth?

Allen had Diggs
McCarthy has Jefferson
Daniels has McLaren
Burrow has chase
Jackson has flowers

Maye has this weird thing. He's accurate for the most part, but there are times when he's WAYYY off not attributed to miscommunication with the receiver. It was there this past game, last year, and in college, and it was front and center during his Pro Day. It's bizarre. Once he figures it out, the sky's the limit.
I can only attribute it to youthful overconfidence or complacency… he thinks he can complete the pass without setting his feet and using proper form.

He’s not the first player to suffer from this, even Tom in his youth had to be told to calm down and step into his throws.

I always loved when some defender would cheap shot or get in Tom’s face to piss him off. A pissed off Tom was a better Tom, he stepped into every pass and every motion was geared towards total annihilation of the opponent.

Maye plays like a goofy kid who is having too much fun on the playground, he needs to get pissed.. if he can’t the coaches need to put it inside of him. He needs some killer instinct.

Maye reminds more and more of Drew Bledsoe.
Sadly yes... I made that comment last year. Praying it wouldn't be true, but so far it appears than not.

A lot of talent, a good ole' boy personality (even though DB was from Wala Wala), awe shucks every time they failed, struggled to diagnose pre-snap coverage, made really stupid throws every 15 passes...

I really hope Maye's first pass in MIA isn't another air ball.

Well Maye is Tall and has a Strong Arm (tm)

Agreed. There were many a times where Bill and Wiess told TB12 to step into thrle throw.. heck even when TB12 was a seasoned veteran with 3 SBs bill was still telling him at times to step into his throws. Drake is a smart ,athletic qb. He's what a modern day QB is. Even purely pocket passer like Stafford and Burrow have some athletic ability to make throws outside the pocket.

Drake will settle down and we've seen him make big throws, wow plays.. we know he has it in him.

Van Pelt got the blame last season.

So far, McDaniel's is being blamed this season.

Maye is undoubtedly the more talented prospect in a vacuum, but McCarthy's situation (top 5 OL, top 5 WRs, 14 win team, offensive minded HC/QB whisperer) is just infinitely better for a young QB to develop in. Maye has a lot more to overcome.

Absolutely correct!! Maye was drafted into a terrible situation with a NFL bottom roster.

4th quarter heroics are great, but you typically want a qb who shows up at some point the first 3 quarters

JJ has looked rough.

And we thought Maye looked bad week 1. McCarthy was brutal tonight.
