SHOULD BE READY TO GO (4)
Strange, Bradbury, Onwenu and Wilson (with either Wilson or Strange as Gameday backup at LG and C). If Bradbury doesn't make the 53, Brown will likely make it as a backup center (but that seems very unlikely).

BACKUP RG (choose 1)
Robinson

Sow

A SIXTH IOL is there if Vrabel chooses to go that route (Sow, Robinson, Robinson, Wallace, Brown or a veteran addition)

I’m not so sure Strange is going to stick. Reports from last week had Wallace at 2nd team left guard and Strange 3rd string, which is an ominous sign for Strange.

I wish Wilson had won the starting center position.
So do I but I think they're playing it exactly right. Playing center in Josh's offense is tough as a rookie. If you're a multi-year starter at center like David Andrews, you can handle it. But since Wilson only started a year at UGA, better to give him a year at guard to get used to being an NFL starter then switch him over to center in the offseason (this is premised on the theory that it'll be easier to find a guard then a center next year)

We don't know if Strange will ever be the same after the Patella. Tough injury recovery. Tough nut for him.

You think ?? We have like 50 players there...wish we could say the same for Offensive Tackle.

Waiting for that 8th Round conditional talk about value.

I think there’s enough serviceable names there to either get us through to next years draft and upgrade or hopefully develop to the next level.

At this point in time, Cole Strange is not a lock to make the team. I'd say he's 50-50
You think 50/50 when they have the new Covert Caedan Wallace ahead of him on the depth chart??

We probably should be. And before I finish my answer there is a chance PTSD from last year created a bias but I'm getting a little nervous about the tackles and the iol. Its only one week of practice but to me it still looks like our weakest position.

I think we all just assumed some veteran investments and a top flight rookie prospect and it can't be as bad as last year. But I think this statement ignores just how bad last year was and that even improving on last year could still leave us as a very bad line. We need major improvement.

Campbell - definitely an improvement on Lowe but as a rookie is he capable of lifting the other 4 up.

Strange - I thought he looked decent returning from injury late last year but thus far this year he definitely seems worse than pre injury.

Bradbury - I thought he was looking ok but he got dinged up pretty quick.

Onwenwu - I didn't spend too much time looking at him and take for granite that he'll return to form.

Moses - again clearly looks like an improvement over any RT from last year. But doesn't seem to have lifted everyone else up either.

Wilson - appears to be the pleasant surprise with how quick he's ascending. Not a knock on Wilson but what if his assent is more about the other inside linemen just sucking. And he's still just a rook too and is he going to lift the other 4 up with his play?

That's my way too early PTSD/fear based analysis so far. Hopefully as the weeks pass and we get closer to week 1 the cohesion gels and they all start lifting each other up. Also just seeing them in live action during preseason could show they are better and eliviate these fears. Long way to go still.

And also hopefully White, Barmore, and Milt are just that good.

I don’t disagree, the missed snaps alone are enough to keep him at guard, let alone the knowledge it takes to make line calls as a rookie, I just wish he had been able to do it because Bradbury is the clear weak link in that OL. However I do think that Henderson in particular will be able to keep Maye upright when he’s kept in to protect him.

It's too early to tell. LT, LG, RG, should be serviceable with improvement by the youngsters with experience and improved coaching. Center is iffy. Is Bradbury a fit for the offense? I'm not discounting Strange. I don't like Brown and don't see him becoming effective. Moses is old and slow and will need help against speed rushers. I'm not excited about Jacobs as a swing tackle. I hear a lot about his athleticism, but it wasn't apparent in game action. I'm okay with Lowe as backup LT but wish Bryant could take the swing tackle. Just don't know anything about him. Back up guards: Wallace, Sow and Robinson are birds of a feather and are just camp bodies waiting to be replaced at cutdown. We can only hope that whatever we end up with this year is serviceable while hoping for a couple class additions next year.

Center will hold up even with Ben Brown. But tackles are big question marks with length and age.

And I think Sow-Wilson-Wallace could be competitive on the interior.

Why is Sow repping on the right side and OT bust Wallace at LG? Dougie is making a dang coaching error.

QUESTION
Who has been lining up at LG other than Wilson and Strange?

I forgot Wallace.

Who would like us go into the season with Wallace as the backup LG?

Or perhaps you prefer Robinson who can't pass block?

Wallace was seen as a guy with good potential at the NFL level... but his position has apparently been hard to nail down.
I do believe he's worth keeping one more year, because last year was derailed for him.
As for Sow, Robinson & Strange - I don't know. Strange is only getting this much consideration because of his draft position.
Sow & Robinson showed some ability the last 2 years, but can either prove starting value?

I can imagine whomever they pick as starting LG (either Strange, Wilson, Wallace, Robinson) one other will be backup on the 53 and maybe both other on the PS - it seems like a trial by error situation at that spot.
I guess it's not horrible to have 1 spot on the OL undecided as long as the other 4 are locked in.

Unless you are at practice there is no way to know how any of the second string players are playing. Almost all the reports and podcasts focus on how the starters are playing, and other than a mention here or there we get nothing about the back ups, so I’m not sure how you are delineating between the players competing for those spots. For all we know Wallace could be having a great camp, and Strange a terrible camp, which can be intuited from him dropping to 3rd string.
