You say that Lowe's ONLY value is being the backup LT. That is huge need.

For 20 years, one of the most important aspects of our winning teams was to have JAG's like Lowe on the team. It is critical to have experienced backups who can step in when needed. Obviously, they need to be healthier and better coached.
Given some adequate coaching, that is enough for him to have a long career playing for the patriots.

Saying that injured backup player sucked as a starter is rather typical posting by lots of folks. Lowe should have been on IR for much more, if not all, of last season. The incompetence of management in not getting additional help at OT, even after the season started was malpractice.

Lowe is what he is, a much-needed backup OT, a 4th OT. Even St. Brady found it difficult to play with injuries in the last half of his last season here.

And just BTW, I don't why you think that Lowe can't be backup swing OT. He can play and has played RT. However, for us, he would just be the emergency backup RT on the 53. We have Moses and Wallace (another injured player whose play sucked last year) and we will likely carry a RT or two on the Practice Squad.
Wallace was considered by Scout's to be best as a RG in the NFL before the 2024 Draft. If he is healthy and improves, I could see them looking at him as Onwenu's replacement when they can Trade or Cut him when his cap hit lessens. Wallace is big enough for the Power Scheme, but faster and quicker than Onwenu for a Zone Scheme (and he would have value as an emergency RT).

I agree. I already suggested this months ago. Wallace does not look like a tackle to me.

Next year Sow might be the LG, Wilson the C, and Wallace the RG. With Campbell at LT, we would need a RT (2026 draft I assume) behind Moses and OL backups. Complete OL makeover.

If healthy, Hernandez with have several teams wanting him before the season starts.

It is a matter of health and cap omney.

It is hard to imagin that there aren't a dozen teams who will have a better LG backup than Hernandez.
I repeat: he’s (seemingly) healthy; we have the cap space; he’s better than Sow.

He has a nice wide wingspan, if he’s not a tackle he’s nothing. His agility is average/poor, he’s not a guard either.

Will Hernandez took some time to develop for a 2nd round pick. He’s good now at 30 years old, he can wait for a team to suffer an injury and get top dollar.

Sow has only been in the league for two years, we don’t know Hernandez is better than Sow. He has the athleticism and potential to develop into a top tier starter this season… arguably sooner than Hernandez did.

Will Hernandez still a free agent, and apparently healthy following that ACL tear back at the start of last season. Would make a better option at guard than Sow, imo.
Brandon Schreff is also still available. Or was last I checked. He’s a bit long in the tooth, but still a very good guard. He probably wants to go play for a ring though, he’s already made some money

it isn't. but his shortcoming were strength issues. he has been 3+ years in an nfl strength program.
his composite speed and agility were fine
his strength and explosiveness was not
Lowe is a poor athlete with a wide wingspan, there’s no question his athleticism is lesser.

Stop trying to shine a turd into a diamond, the team has better options now. Wolf’s obsession with long arms and zero athleticism is no longer the prototype for Vrabes and Cowden… thankfully.

Do you really want to be taking that gamble when we have a second year franchise QB to protect and develop?

I like Sow well enough; I think he can come good. I just want a surer bet protecting Maye, while helping develop younger guys like Sow.

I’ve seen Strange and Sow play well, I really liked the Jared Wilson pick… they got it covered assuming health.

Yes, we all have seen a healthy Strange and a heathy Sow play well. We've also seen then play poorly.

Having two players coming back from injuries who have played well sometimes hardly make many of feel that we are covered at LG,

Lowe scored fine athletically. his composite speed was graded good. his composite agility graded okay. he did not score well in his bench score or composite explosiveness. that was 4 years ago, and since, he has been in an nfl program to improve his strength and explosiveness.

Long arms = weaker bench

Anyone know why Lowe is on PUP?

Is he just being stashed in case of emergency? My understanding is that he is a LT only, which makes it tough to keep him on the active roster. I really want to know who is going back up LT on the active roster.

Campbell, Moses, Marcus Bryant, Sidy Sow….

Why people are still hanging onto the Vederian Lowe hope is beyond me.

He might develop into a backup, they can do better than that.

After the midpoint of his rookie season Strange was great. He played the following season on a torn ACL until he sustained an injury on the same knee. Like I said… he just needs to be healthy.

Sow much like Strange, Solder and most rookies before him dealt with growing pains early in his rookie season then improved to look really good.

Jared Wilson is an athletic talent… 3 talented shots to get one position right is more than most teams have. The odds and coaching staff is in our favor.

Stumpy's already the starter at LT and Moses the starter at RT; my concern here is mainly about the backups.

Marcus Bryant sucks. Never should've been drafted in ANY round.

And Siddy the Sow is firstly competing for the starting LG job; if he doesn't win it then maybe we can discuss the possibility of having him take snaps at LT, which would be the first time for him here in, like, ever... He certainly has the physical & athletic traits needed there, but to claim he's already a better option at OT than VD is premature. Heck the FO did such a piss-poor job this offseason that DT Jacobs - a demonstrably Worse performer last year at RT than VD was at LT - is STILL the #4 OT in camp...

You really believe that Strange, Sow and Wilson as our LG's is better than what most teams have at LG? WOW!

I can’t take you negative Nancy’s seriously… you types were telling us we had no talent in 2014, 2016 and 2018.

Captain Stoned strikes again…
