Pats should offer 3rd rounder for Kyle Pitts and convert him to WR

Wouldn’t Atlanta already have tried him at WR since he has not produced like a #4 overall pick at TE?

How do you regress like that from a promising rookie season to average joe so quickly?

I don’t know, maybe dude lost his mojo and can still be salvaged into a good piece? Needs the right setting ala scheme and coaching? However, you must notice that great players play at high levels regardless of their circumstances and always find a way. I know there may be examples otherwise, but not as many as you think.

I just don’t see Shannon Sharpe in this guys future.

I know that up until they got Penix Jr. (who is still learning to be an NFL QB), the QB play except for his Rookie Season hasn't been good. To my knowledge, they haven't tried him at WR.

Sharpes numbers in his first 4 years are extremely comparable to Pitts.

Your’re right on that. Remember watching him in the 90s and for some reason I thought his numbers were a lot better throughout his career. Looking at the stats he had 5 pretty dominant years which is a lot less than I thought. Granted he had some pretty good receivers taking targets/swaying coverage like Rod Smith, Ed McCafrrey. Saw he was 3rd string his first couple of years. Thanks for the correction.

One of the things i find interesting and ironic is people gut instinct, particularly about football players is usually not so accurate.
I looked it up because that’s an interesting phenomenon to me, not as a gotcha.

Same as the guy who said Pitts would be unstoppable in the red zone (probably something people would think is true) and he’s actually sucked out loud.

He’s not a WR, and he’s not a very good TE.
I’d take him, because the skills are there and there is a chance he could be a dominant player if his head was right.
How big a chance who knows because getting a guys head right is usually a losing battle

Don’t get cute with the WR stuff. That rarely works. You’re trading for him as a TE, and for no more than a 4th + change
These guys are trying to save face. They spent the 4th overall selection on him and have made it clear they want a 2nd. I don’t think they get it but maybe a 3rd from some team out there. 4th is just a dream. They mind as well just keep him and hope he has a turnaround.

Chiefs would be an interesting landing spot for him. Play alongside and learn from Kelce until he retires. Mahomes and Reid could probably get what they are looking for out of him and possibly then some.

With Pitts it’s weird. His receptions and yards are pretty good (for a tight end) but he’s 6’6 and should be hovering near 10 TDs every year, instead he has 10 in 4 years. There’s talent there but somebody needs to tap into the reason why somebody who’s a physical specimen can’t seem to be the TD machine he should be.

A third round pick for a 6’6 guy who gets 2-4 TDs as a receiver at TE? No
I live in Atlanta. He’s a moron. That simple. Also soft as tissue paper.

NFL Pro says that under 20% of his career routes have been from an actual tight end alignment.

The Pats are a Diggs boat ride away from 2024 happening all over again.

They have a bunch of "Hope and Change" guys. That BS never comes to fruition .

Might be going to Pittsburgh where Arthur Smith, God’s emissary for reclamation TEs, is the OC and awaits his arrival.

It always amazes me how often this is overlooked when teams and fans are looking at who to draft, sign as a free agent, or trade for. And the truth of the matter, at least in my opinion, is that it goes to the heart of why guys with tons of talent fail. Morons usually don’t get what it takes to be a professional athlete. They are the guys who don’t eat right, train right, or study their craft properly. They have always coasted on ability, but when faced with competition that is their athletic equal don’t understand how to overcome those challenges. Coming out of college Pitts clearly had all the athletic ability in the world, but at no point has he figured out how to live up to it. So for me I’ll usually take a pass on guys like Pitts, or assholes like George Pickens, because while their is clearly some athletic ability there, they are never going to be guys that get the most out of themselves, or contribute to making the team better.

I would think that the Titans might be a better trade partner, giving up Levis.
Would that be a pair of Blue Levi’s or White Levi’s? If they’re left over from the 60’s they may have more value than the QB!

6-6. 245 4.4 40

Instantly becomes our best WR
Would be unstoppable as WR in red zone
Not to mention, he’d be our best blocking WR since N’Keal Harry, just in case he can’t run routes and catch better than N’Keal….

McD was awful with Jonnu Smith so we can skip the Pitts experiment.

But was that because of McDaniels or Smith. Maybe Smith just couldn't get the offense. Smith seems to excel in simpler offenses.

Unfortunately, we don't know because McDaniels has only had a TE with similar talents of Smith or Pitts one other time with (I hate to invoke his name) Aaron Hernandez in 2012 and Hernandez only played 10 games that season.
