Which backup OL make the initial 53-man roster (sorry, no room for RLKAG)

Wilson should be the primary backup at all 3 IOL spots. We would need to keep another IOL abs then a few in the practice squad. To me IOL is in stone with the exception of the IOL5 becoming available with a vet FA we like.

Barth and Lazar discussed this. He is very raw with only one season of starting experience, but he went up against Georgia's Defensive line big dogs in practice for years. It is unlikely he can come in and win the starting OC job in training camp and whether playing guard in the interim helps or hurts his development at OC remains to be seen.

Valerian Lowe, or as Captain Stone calls him VD Lowe, is the quiet guy who, despite his mediocre athleticism, may scrap and claw his way to being the backup LT. I wouldn’t bet against him.
I'm hoping Big Marcus Bryant makes him expandable and Cardan Wallace improves some. IF those two things happen we won't need Lowe Blow.

Difficult at this point to guess who'll start at center and left guard in week 1:
- Bradbury was the Vikings starter the past 6 years. Will Wilson be better than him right away?
- Strange-Sow-Robinson are the LG candidates. Strange is the most athletic and experienced.
- Campbell and Moses are locks at tackle, and Onwenu at RG is a lock too.

LT Campbell
LG Strange
C Bradbury
RG Owenu
RT Moses
Twin I think a healthy Jared Wilson beats Garrett Bradbury out... I prefer Bradbury as a Back-up. Cole Strange is playing for his future in this League. Win win for us either way... He needs to start playing like a First Rounder.

Bradbury is the most experienced. I'm expecting him to be the starter at least to start the season... Wilson is said To be very athletic. Sow got hurt with an ankle last season and somehow mayo couldn't find playing time for him over Jordan..

I know twin... only becuase Wilson is rookie had Bradbury at least starting the season to execute Josh game plans.. and Wilson be brought along while he acclimate to the NFL.. strange needs to prove he can stay on the field.

Twin don't say that name...it's in blaspheming territory now. The Haul Cleveland got from Jax's makes me so mad.

LOL.. I know twin... but he's going to Jax to play with Lawrence instead of coming here to play with maye day..

He has G experience. It’s not going to hurt him to learn more than 1 position, almost all rookies do.

Much as I hated to include Lowe I had no choice.

Lowe can't play. Any warm body would be a better backup.

The Lowe and Sow cultists, I'll never understand.
Lowe I agree. Sow is a mystery. Athletically Sow is very good, but he collapsed in Y2. Maybe it was an injury or maybe he has the Tin Man's lack of heart. We will see. Writing off Sow support as cultist acitivity is premature. You might be right or not, but I have a hard time judging a guy after a bad sophomore year following an injury.

Some random thoughts. OL is the last issue this team has. Particularly Guard. And as of now i'm okay with it. Just cause i was curious i looked up what's left out there... Very little movement. Most teams are probably trying to figure out what they have before signing anyone. So i don't think anyone of note will be signed until at least training camp is under way.

Guards - Will Hernandez, Shaq Mason, Brandon Scherff are still out there. Mason isn't what he was, but he is still good enough to start. Scherff is the creme so to speak in this example and a very solid starter, but he will cost a bit. Hernandez is the compromise, but hows he look off his injury? Dalton Risner is another option but really suspect run blocking it seems... more of the break glass if emergency guy late in the year and the other 3 are gone.

Tackles - Hopefully Campbell works out and Moses stays healthy so this isn't needed. But Tyron Smith is still out there. But after that it is slim pickings.

So while hopefully the solution is on this team, I think Vrabel and co have an eye on this. They want to revamp the line and build it with youth going forward. Hopefully found 2 of 5 long term peices this draft and can get 2 more next draft. But i do think unlike last year they won't just sit on their hands while Maye gets killed. The invested too much to let this OL sink them. I am going to be watching training camp carefully, if after 2 weeks or 1 preseason game in it isn't going well, i don't think they will wait till opening day to make a move or to see it in game action. This staff has shown a lot of meassured aggression when attacking issues on this roster. I know we'd all like this solved right now, but they've got the pulse of the league pretty well i think, they probably figured they could help the team on offense in the draft and defense in FA then wait and see if they need to do more. I am it things look questionable they will make a move fast enough that there are still people left on the board who can solve our issues.

Smith is retiring. There is NOTHING at tackle.

if the OC is calling the OL assignments at the LOS, it would appear that to start Bradbury has a big leg up.
how quickly does Wilson become comfortable with that responsibility?

Strange best attribute is his athleticism. has he lost any post surgery? is that the reason he was used at OC last season when he returned?

while I have always admired versatility along the OL. I would prefer 5 guys start day 1 and not move around. get Campbell and Robinson comfortable beside each other. get Onwenu and Moses into a rhythm. get Bradbury comfortable. those 5 should be a very good run game OL. the next 5 OL will show a lot of versatility. Wilson. all 3 IOL pos. Strange. all 3 IOL positions. Sow OG/OT potential (PS?). Lowe. swing OT.

He was used at center because he was better than the option they had. Strange will be the starting left guard if healthy. He doesn't have to play like a first rounder, he just has to be better than any other option the team has. Hopefully he plays great and someone beats him out so he is the backup.
