24th Annual Bama Draft Contest
It’s that time of year again to take our best guess as to how the draft will unfold. Dave Levine has been running this contest for 24 years now, longer than his son has been alive (he’s graduated college already).
We honor the namesake of the contest, Rich "Bama" Oljey, who passed a few years ago. Bama was huge draftnik and he and I would take off work to watch the draft as far back as 1981 when ESPn 1st broadcast the draft.
For those of you who don’t know, the rules are simple. Post a list of your first 32 picks in the draft
, in the order, they are drafted. That’s it. The team doesn’t matter so you don’t have to worry about trades. Correct response to picks 1-11 gets 1 point, 12-21 2 points, and 22-32 gets 3 points. You also get 5 points if you select the correct Patriots selection.
As a tiebreaker, also include who you think the Pats will select with their first selection outside of the 1st round. That’s it. The winner gets bragging rights to being the champion.
Plagiarism is encouraged. If you find a mock draft on the internet that you like, copy it and send it in. If you see someone on this distribution who chose a good list, copy it and claim it as your own. The due date is noon Thursday, April 24th, the day of the draft. You can change your entry as many times as you like so please submit your guesses early so I have time to start compiling. Hopefully there will be big spreadsheet that keeps track of everything and will post it on here before the draft starts send out to those who are participating.
