Another unfortunate scenario?

Man, the Titans drafting another QB in the first round after doing so two years ago. Giving up on Will Levis evidently.

Any team that had Russell Wilson and jameis Winston as their QBs last year would be looking to draft a qb this year. Having bad QBs on one year deals is not a thing to prevent you from drafting a qb.
I agree with this but at the same time they knew what the draft class looked like when they signed these guys so there obviously could be some correlation.

I think they should go Hunter but they appear locked in on Ward.

Trading up to 2 would involve losing our first round pick next year. The Patriots just aren't good enough to do that. If they were a WR away from contention, then I'd be all for it. But unless Hunter can play left tackle, along with corner and wr, it's just not worth 2 first round picks.
thx mayo/milton again

I wholeheartedly agree.

I just think the fact that they signed those two, combined with a relative dearth of quality quarterbacks in this draft means that they are going to punt on a QB this season, and look to draft one next year instead.

We'll find out in a few days.

I can remember the Steelers drafting Notre Dame's Terry Hanratty early and proceeding to go 1-13 - then drafting Terry Bradshaw the very next year with the #1 overall pick. Worked out for Pittsburgh, but not for Hanratty - he never got another chance to start, spending the rest of his career holding a clipboard.

I don't remember Hanratty being that much of a prospect, certainly not a Bradshaw, but Arizona drafted Josh Rosen 10th OA, and went back in for Kyler Murray the next year.

I don't know why the Eagles would do this, but the Pats would easily be set up for a playoff birth at worst. If not, the panic button would be hit on Maye.
Maybe they know AJs heart is in New England and you don’t want guys who aren’t 100 percent dug in.

Good call, that's a better example.

I thought Hanratty was a first round pick, but he was actually #30 overall, early in the second round.

Steelers drafted Mean Joe Greene in the first round in '69, then Bradshaw in the first round in '70.

This is some NE fan's fever dream picked up by Fitzy. The Iggles literally have about ($)50 million reasons not to do this.

Another unfortunate scenario? Isn't this the same unfortunate scenario that's currently being (ahem) discussed?
...
Thursday can not get here fast enough. Fred and Sam need new stuff to whine about
Hey, I resemble that remark....anyway I just had major surgery so I am groggy and not moving much. My 40 time has slipped,

Anyway, the reason I brought this up is that everything depends on the Giants. I was thinking that they sort of had to take Sanders or risk losing him to another qb-needy team later in the round. But (shhhh, don't tell them this) if they use Carter as trade bait, they could move down a few slots in the first but still be in range of Sanders.

Sure the results are the same for us, but the likelihood of the Giants not taking Sanders decreases....
and yes, Thursday cannot get here soon enough.

Oh please let them trade away the chance at Carter so they can get Sanders. Then please let it create a fever pitch for pick 4 where desperate teams that thought Sanders was going to fall now have to trade up for him and we get the haul no one expected.

The Hard Knocks video would be gold.
IMO, Sanders is more likely to be there at 20 than to be picked at 3.

I have a feeling he comes off the board at 21, going to Pittsburgh. That's still high for him IMO, he's at best a lower 2nd round talent. From where I sit Dart, Shough and Milroe are all better prospects

If we could bet on it (I’m sure we can somewhere) I’d say Hunter and Carter are becoming increasingly unlikely

Yeah because they didn't want a 72 Year old BB last year but will want a 75 year old BB in a couple of years.

Nope, because they are not done with Daboll or the GM.

Taking Deon Jr. will do the trick though.

Hunter and Carter in the top 3 makes perfect sense.
Ward at number 1 is the pick that makes no sense

Heard on NFL radio that Mara after deciding to keep Daboll and the GM was clear that one of the goals this off season was to get the QB of the future. Do they trade down and select Sanders or Dart?

It is interesting to note that Mel rates Sanders as better than Ward (we need to send this to the Maras):

And for all you Tet-obsessed types, Mel favors Golden over Tet. I agree with him on this. Not so sure about Sanders

Hanratty was picked at the end of the second round.
