Let's talk Trade DOWN options

I’m a HUGE Warren fan, he’s just an unbelievable weapon from the TE position. I feel he can change an offense just like a good WR can. He’s not just a good TE, he can run the wildcat (former QB), he’s even run the ball like a RB. So versatile, like a Swiss Army knife. Also an excellent blocker.
OT: Tyler Warren hand size. 9.5 . Arm length 31.75

Gronk hands 10.75. Arms 34.25

A reminder of how much a physical freak Gronk was.

You aren’t describing the 44 on Penn state that I watched.

Agreed. He's every 'good' TE you can get in the late first, early 2nd that has come out in the last 20 years. Taking him at 4 would be insane.

Can Gronk donate his arms to Campbell and make everyone happy? It’s got to be just like a liver or kidney transplant…

He won’t get past the Jets at 10, unless they are trading up for a QB.

I have. Extensively. He isn’t what you are describing.
The dude had 104 catches for 1233 yards and 8 TD catches, 26 carries for 218 yards rushing and 4 rushing tds and was 3 for 6 passing with a passing TD. Where exactly was I wrong in describing him. In fact his stats dictate what I was describing was right. I also watched him extensively.

I watched most of his games. I didn’t see an unbelievable weapon that can change an offense like a WR.
I saw an offense that didn’t have anyone else to throw to that resulted in him getting thrown to a lot. I saw a guy who put up big numbers against bad teams. I saw a guy who did relatively nothing until his 5th year senior. I saw a guy taking plays off because he was winded. I surely didn’t see an excellent blocker.
I’m not drafting a TE based upon him running wildcat in college.

Look he’s OK he might have a career resembling Hooper or Etrz, which isn’t bad, but he isn’t gronk, Kelce, bowers or kittle.

I think the draft will play out this way.

The pick at 4 will be Carter, Hunter or Campbell in that order.

If the pick is Carter or Hunter, the Pats will need to trade up into the early twenties to try and get ahead of the next wave of tackles behind Banks:

Connerly
Esery
Simmons

Trapilo might be an NFL ready swing tackle, but I don't think you pencil him in as a day one starter at LT.

I don't see the Pats trading pick 4 if Hunter or Carter are there unless it is an absolute haul that includes a 2026 Rd 1. Not sure about Campbell. I think Vrabel loves his make up and upside and it would take a lot to move off of that pick.

Penei Sewell is one of the best tackles in the NFL. With short arm length.

Not a huge fan of arm length alone devaluing an offensive tackle.

It’s the season where everyone is finding every possible thing they can to downgrade players.

While I'd love to trade down if we don't have a player we'd like and i'd try to (I honestly don't think it will come to that) I don't see how we trade down in the worst case scenario.

Everyone knows we aren't taking Sanders... And while Trevor Lawrence has been disappointing, the Jags aren't willing to give up on him yet. And with their contract with him he's there till 2028. So is there a player the Jags DESPERATELY need at 5 who won't be there a little lower? I don't think so. So why trade with us when the Jags are a bit lower and will cost less to trade with due to being the 5th pick instead of the 4th?

I mean it really shouldn't matter, as you should go by the draft board tiers more than the trade value chart... but GMs need to be able to explain things to their owners... So that is the chart they go by to prove the trade wasn't bad. And both sides tend to kinda honor it more or less. And their 5th pick is 100 points less than ours. So why would a team spend the extra capital?

The only reason would be if another team is competing to trade up at a higher price. But will there be? What teams are in position to do so? Maybe the Jets and Raiders get in a bidding war? Sadly if Sanders falls past the top of the draft a lot of teams who would be willing to trade up for him are out of the running. Which is why i don't think he will fall out of the first 3 picks.

Teams may not like it, but it's him or nothing. And i think there is a strong case to be made he is worth a top 3 pick.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

From your mouth to the Football Gods ears, if Hunter or Carter are there at 4, I’d be thrilled. I wanted Hunter at #1 when we had that pick for 15 minutes. And if it’s Carter, holy schnickes our defense could be excellent.

If one of those there at 4, and we pass them up for Campbell, I would probably have a heart attack. Though I’m slowly realizing that could be the case. They did such a poor job with their line in Free Agency, it’s almost forcing them to take Campbell.

Was told in the draft forum that all players available at 4-14 are exactly the same, so might as well trade down and pick at 14 then.

I don’t think it’s that they’re all the same, I think that this draft is so fluid that you can move back and still get a player you would really like to have.

Yeah, they all are graded in the same range, so it will come down to who a teams wants the most...BPA in that range is very murky.

According to Daniel Jeremiah's Big Board these are the guys he rates 4-14 in order:

Mason Graham, DT
Tyler Warren, TE
Colston Loveland, TE
Jalon Walker, EDGE
Jahdae Barron, CB
Will Campbell, OT/G
Cam Ward (Will be gone)
Armand Membou, OT
Jihaad Campbell, LB
Will Johnson, CB
Omarion Hampton, RB
