Would you trade #4 for AJ Brown and pick 32?

We’ll see, but I’d pump the brakes on playoff talk. Lots of new players and coaches who will take time to jell, even though the talent level should be much better.
Washington didn’t need time to jell last year, Houston the year before.
If they have talent and are well coached they will win. How many of them were here last year is an irrelevant factor. Just one of those things people say to hedge an opinion.

If you want to get back to contention as quick as possible getting a WR core headlined by AJ Brown and Stefon Diggs is a really good start.

Teams that were under .500 were in the Wild Card hunt in December. This Patriots team can definitely be in that hunt in December.
Agreed. People are looking at this team for some reason as last years team. I've long last season out my system. Upgrades at coaching alone gives this team a huge advantage. For example look at the AFCE.. I'd say Vrabel is the best coach in the division. The Chargers will never be anything more than a tease.. Denver has a great defense but nix isn't going to surprise anyone this season. Texans are a well coached team however I believe we could challenge them for a playoff seed. Pittsburgh has no QB.

I’m not hedging anything. The team will be better. That doesn't necessarily mean they’ll make the playoffs.

Washington and Houston are exceptions and both already had more talented rosters.

Washington didn’t have a ton of talent they added their Franchise QB same as we did.

We arguably have more talent on defense than Washington did and we added to that. The only thing Washington had over us was a game breaker in Terry Mcclauren.
can you even name their second and third WR without looking it up?
other than WR1 and Tackle?

Where are they better?

My point is coaching, they had a really good OC and and a head coach to bro them in game planning and situational football.

That sounds a lot like us this year.

One more significant upgrade at a WR and Tackle and we should be fighting for playoffs and at the least be a tough out.

Spot on. We had 7 one score games last season with Brissett at QB for at least 5 of them. Coaching had alot to do with losses last season. We've been upgraded simply by having top notch veteran coaches who have championship pedigree. Go figure look inside our own division where are better than Buffalo everywhere save for QB.

The Patriots have a better offensive line than the Bills?

Sometimes teams can over achieve in their first years... Washington and Houston aren't sneaking up on anyone. They will be challenged this season.

They had McLaurin. He is better than any Patriot player now. McLaurin alone is a huge difference and that bolsters my point.

The last sentence is possible, but that’s not the same as “making the playoffs.”

I have problems with McDermott but the man has had 6 consecutive double digit win seasons (4 more than Vrabel ever had) and has 7 playoff wins vs Vrabel's 2. He easily is the best coach in the division until proven otherwise.

Also we are 2 years removed from a 4 win team where the coach was Bill Belichick. Coaching is only going to upgrade the record so much. The guys on the field have a massive say in what goes on.

Here's the real gig. We are more likely fighting for a wildcard spot. So it's 3 teams we need to get beyond. Bengals/Steelers/Ravens one will win the division and those other 2 will be going for those spots. Tomlin has never coached a team with a losing record and with Burrow the Bengals have a high floor even if they are an incomplete team. Chiefs will win the AFC West. The Broncos and Chargers made the playoffs last year and have been on the upswing and added pieces this year. So imo it's tough to just straight up discount them.

The problem with fighting for a wildcard spot is that there's a lot of teams we will be competing with where the quality of our team won't actually factor into things in terms of stopping our competitors. We won't play the Broncos or Chargers to have any chance of giving us a tiebreaker advantage or putting an L on their record. Even if we think they are "teases" they can be teases and still pass us in that wildcard hunt. We only play the Steelers and Bengals once and only one is a home game.

And that's assuming we make a decent jump relative to everyone else. Maye is still a question mark. The offensive line has holes and AT BEST will be relying on some rookies with question marks to take on a huge burden. The WR core is putting all their hopes on Diggs coming back from injury, if he struggles, we are back to our offense being a mess.

So there's just a lot up in the air. We have too many unknowns at this point

McDermott has underachieved having Allen wasting many years of his prime. Last season they should have been in the superbowl. Give Vrabel Allen instead of tannehhill in 2019 he gets the the superbowl. I see your points but this team project's to far better than they have post brady. Looks back on things in 2021 it was false hope we played back up QB and banged up teams that seasoned.

Every team has unknowns. However there is no mystery that we were the worse offenses in the league for consecutive seasons in a row. I have more faith and optimism now..than I've had since brady left.

The defense is constructed to stiffle offenses none of this Matt Patricia bend defense.. it's an attacking aggressive style gap penetrative defense that rushes up the middle where QB can't step up.

New LT, Drake, diggs, Boutte , pop, Gibson,Henry will all be significantly better under Josh. Avp admitted he couldn't even call everything on his own play sheet last season. We aren't yet a finished product but I like what vrables doing.

I see your points. What happened last season is unique. Chargers, Broncos and Chiefs all in the same division made the playoffs. As vrable has said the first order of business is winning the division. Let's say we split with each team in our division that's 3-3 and if we have a better win % against AFC opponents. We could be a team that's a 7th seed or challenging for it.

I didn't see anything about this rumor on the Eagles boards.

Some do think that Roseman will make some kind of deal because Philly has 8 picks in this draft and 12 picks in 2026

I don’t really disagree with any of this, but I think that if they are fighting for a wild card spot with a couple of weeks to go then they have made significant progress. I would love to see them get one, but I’ll be happy with the season on the whole.
