BB's new book has no mention of Bob Kraft - admits shocking mistake

Bill is a great coach, people can bash him all they want for mistakes, but he oversaw the best ever.
Brady was the GOAT, and part of that was because of Bill.
B&B was the perfect storm. The taskmaster HC and the respect for authority QB put their big brains together for 20 years. It's too bad the owner blew it at the end.

RK, Bill and Brady in unison. All gave us greatness for 2 decades. While I respect posters opinions as a fan myself i choose to appreciate all 3 men together as they all played integral parts to sustained excellence. Without the confetti, champagne and dropping over the last few years it's easy to cherry pick who did what, when, why. However this is my team and I'm happy to have a local football team in Boston area to root for. We could we talking about the Hartford patriots hadn't the governor stepped in. Just my opinions. We have a lot to be thankful for as fans!

Will he be discussing good coaching or bad coaching? He has excellent skills in both, alas.
Bill made very few coaching mistakes in 20 years. Probably a handful at the most. His issues were elsewhere.

I'm looking forward most of all to any interactions between Bill and Tom. That stuff would be football gold.

The Krafts threw my respect away when they went after Belichick as soon as they fired him. I agreed with the firing but the blame-game documentary by the Krafts was pathetic and made a bad situation much worse.

As for the Hartford move, I knew season ticket holders who actually didn't mind the team going to Hartford. And they lived north of Boston. There are probably plenty of fans who feel the same way. Foxboro is a bad spot for a stadium.

The Hartford Patriots would still be the New England Patriots. It would be a longer drive for most of us but they’d still be here. What you’re glossing over is the fact that Kraft saved this team from moving to St. Louis and becoming the Stallions. I’ll always be thankful for that, along with the success of the team.

That being said it doesn’t make Kraft beyond reproach. He deserves plenty of criticism, even during the successful years. Kraft bent the knee to Goodell (the man who answers to the owners, not the other way around ) too much to my liking, in witch hunts that resulted in the loss of multiple high draft picks as well as suspensions. All because he was more concerned with getting along with his fellow owners than he was with having his team’s backs. And of course going that spa for a quickie, including the same day he had to fly out to Kansas City for the AFC championship. He brought shame upon himself and the organization and has only himself to blame for that. And that’s all before we get into that hit piece he funded.

Kraft for all his faults is still one of the better owners in the league, but it’s a low bar to clear given how awful a lot of these other owners are, and Kraft is every bit as deserving of the criticism he receives as he is of the praise. His ****head son is a different story. I’m not looking forward to how things will look once Bob kicks the bucket.

As we all know and I know you are a great football historian as I've learned many things NFL from your post. The Boston patriots were an interesting organization. I get what you're saying about the documentary.. as Bill was still coaching here when then was done. I don't think Bill or RK did each other any favors with it.

Oh without a doubt. Of course RK had his critism. Point I'm trying to make is he's still a great owner.. pivotal for the CBA during the lock out in 2011.. we have to remember he's a business man so profits and cut throat decisions are always going to be in his DNA. Same with Mayo I believe that was a cut throat decision too.. I'm simply stating all 3 men collective had to work in unison in order for us to have the lasting success we did for so long. I appreciate them all.. it took the NFL to approve RK as an owner, it took an owner to hire Bill, and it took a coach to get the best out of TB12.

PBP,

Here's a look inside the patriots team airplane.. looks pretty modern and comfortable to me..

Maybe goddy couldn't get the stewardess to massage his feet..
They look like leather coach seats. With coach legroom.

They have more legroom than standard coach. Center looks tighter because of foreshortening due to depth of field. But look at the left side. You can see how much legroom there is, and there is more than a single window per row which is way more that standard coach spacing.

It unraveled at the end because the individuals involved had different interests at play. Brady had no responsibility to the franchise or his coach once he hung up his cleats. So BB and RK both had to plan for the transition when Brady either chose to retire or could no longer cut the mustard. The two of them didn’t see eye to eye on the transition, and things turned out badly.

I think in the last couple of years anyway, there were failings both as GM and as HC. His management of his coaching staff, in particular, was outlandishly bad and his whiny and unporfessional pettiness in dealing with players who declined to kiss his ass and his friends' asses was just irresponsible. He was great until he wasn't. Sic transit gloria mundi.

Looks like a scene from the world's worst gay porno.

All true. And/but this basically all went down between Feb and April of 2020 when it wasn't clear if there was going to be a 2020 NFL season. Brady quit on March 17, the day before COVID lockdowns started. Not sure how this works in but it probably seemed like a bad idea to make multi-decade decisions right then.
While I get what you're saying, there's a huge continuum between "a multi-decade decision" and, say, "signing Joe Flacco" (he got $1.5M that year).

Yeah. People liked to chalk it up to the GM'ing, but the team was sloppy the last several years and were making dumb undisciplined positions and constantly getting back breaking penalties. Part of that is on the talent needing a crutch, but Belichick has to own part of the mess he put on the field.

Winning cures everything and creates culture. Once the winning stopped, the culture was dying via death by a thousand cuts.

It would have much more convenient for me.

Both Bob and Bill said they offered Tom a contract for 2020. He decided to leave.

It’s the “free” part of free agency you’re struggling with.
Yeah but, he didn't want to come back because Bill insulted him with his offer.
