Campbell MOST LIKELY outcome is that he has to move to guard. So he's probably not even going to be capable of playing the position Lowe is. He has a huge red flag that is basically a non starter at the position he currently plays and struggles against college edge rushers because of it already.

So just because you want him to be better, doesn't make it so. It's dumb to waste a pick on a guard.

Yep, he struggled so much he let up 3 sacks his last 2 years at LSU, playing against the best talent in college football. But at least he likes playing football.

And yet he is rated the best offensive lineman in the draft by everyone. So just because you think he sucks doesn’t mean he actually sucks, even if his arms are 1/2 an inch too short.

There's no evidence he can't, either. He played right tackle, because the left tackle was a long-term starter, and didn't suck.
And thats the mentality you take when you draft players after round 1

I didn’t know that, but i did know that didn’t start playing football until high school, and that he is the son of Suffo and Annie Membou.

Honestly Busta, I would take the chance on him. I don’t think he will get Maye killed this year, and his upside is immense. I will trust the Patriots on this decision, because they know a ****load more about offensive line play than I ever will, but I think that they should be going for the highest ceiling prospects, and trust their ability to coach them to that point. You will never go from worst to first making safe picks. And given that they aren’t going to contend this season I’m not sure why people would want the safe pick? ( they could make a run at a wild card spot, but they won’t contend for the championship)

Like most here I want Left Tackle addressed, but unlike last year, when I was a quarterback Nazi, and thought taking anyone other that Maye or Daniel's was insane, this year I will be fine with a host of players or options, just as long as they make good decisions. I would even be fine with Jeanty or Warren, they just aren’t high on my list. And while I want to see significant improvement this year, my real focus is on 26’, when I expect them to contend for the AFCE, and to be in the playoffs, and hopefully winning games there.
Last year we bounced a lot of stuff off each other
In the end we agreed that Maye was the right choice
It was a need pick but also best player on the board
This year it’s obvious we need a LT or the rest of the Offense is going to suffer
It’s also a need pick but I am confident that with all the intel the Patriots have on players we will get a LT and I personally will welcome him
I prefer Campbell but if it’s Membou then I will be thrilled

Sacks aren't everything. Pressures are just as important and destroy plays. More plays last year got ruined because Maye was under pressure and had to make a bad pass than actually getting sacked. Campbell struggles with Edge rushers who have good size. The exact type of player the NFL has a surplus of.

Marrone tried to recruit both Campbell and Membou to Alabama. He knows them both and likely knows who is the better fit for pats need. Although drafting for need rather than bpa is not idesl, the importance of the LT position has to be weighed in.
Striking out in UFA has put them in this position of critical need.

Campbell allowed 18 pressures in 13 games. Less than 1.5 per game. 18 pressures was a good game for Cam Robinson.

Yep. They sure struck out in free agency. All them great offensive tackles, like Dan Moore and Cam Robinson, and they whiffed on all of them. I’m with you Sam, I’m still pissed they didn’t sign Justin Jefferson and Joe Alt. ****ing Mike Vrabel, he can’t sign anyone good . We’re doomed, we will never win another game.

Sam, if it weren’t for Mike Vrabel this is how the Patriots roster would have looked after free agency.

Right Tackle: Penei Sewell, Detroit

To be fair we could of had Thuney back.

To be fair we could of had Thuney back.

Thuney is a guard, not a tackle, and the Chef’s paid dearly for it when they used him at tackle in the Super Bowl.

The Patriots clearly wanted a tackle in free agency, the problem was that there weren’t any there, they were cleaned out by teams resigning them before free agency. And the lie that they just didn’t try is complete and utter ********.

I was being humorous, he maybe an upgrade at Guard but maybe he wasn’t.
We have some completion with bodies there.

Didn't Sow have a bad ankle injury last year?
I went looking a few weeks ago for news, but I don't think they'll be letting a lot of news out at Patriot Place these days.

is Carter a one trick pony? I think it is a pretty good trick, but is he a DE or OLB. Is he that much better than Jalon Walker? With the additions to the defense, i don't think that is a pressing need. I think they are going to draft a pretty special player at #4 so i am all in with who they get and for some reason have much more confidence in their drafting plan than in previous years. time will tell.

1) Yes
- He's an EDGE and EDGE only. He's too small to play 4-3 DE, and not skilled enough in pass coverage to play OLB.
2) No
-It's not a pressing need. If this was Myles Garrett, it would be another thing entirely. He's not. This is a guy Will Campbell could handle easily, even with his t-rex arms.

Godzilla sucks, he always gets beat up....
BTW, he kicks the crap out of Kong, who obviously has MUCH longer arms.
Godzilla is the fkn king.

NEP D in 2024 was 30th in QB knockdowns, 32nd in sacks, 31st QB hits, 28th in QB pressure, 23rd in QB hurries, 25th in passer rating, 20th vs the run, and 22nd in point allowed

To say the pass rush isn't a pressing need is not accurate.

Carter is also good vs the run and great in pursuit.

He represents a major upgrade over what they had

Membou at 4 is a bit scary as 1. he plays RT and would be a projection and 2. while not as severe, at 33.5 arm length is not as long as you would like but the 82in wingspan is fine.
At least if Membou ends up at RT long term, one tackle position is addressed.

Pick Graham. Best D line in the NFL. D wins playoff games.
