I’d almost go against everything I believe and draft Tet or Jeanty at 4 just to try to strike gold on a playmaker.
Why bother drafting MacMillan when N’Keal Harry is available for nothing?

Because they aren't close to the same player. This is a "Patriots fans are snakebitten and terrified because they got burned on a very different player" thing. Why bother drafting MacMillan when N’Keal Harry is available for nothing?

Most likely scenario is that Tet doesn't become the freak generational bust that Harry was, he becomes a solid contributor and someone we would have liked to have and we draft someone like Campbell who ends up playing guard and it becomes a dumb debate we don't live down for years.
Campbell might be a good guard. Macmillan will like be an improvement on every WR we have depending on how Diggs recoversCouldn’t disagree more . I think Campbell is going to be a really good pro, and I think Macmillan is a dog.

You def haven't watched his tape if you think he's always coveredI have seen, read, and heard enough about MacMillan, and he’s pretty much the only guy I don’t want in the first round. I don’t want Maye throwing to a guy who is always covered. I would take any receiver in the first 3-4 rounds over him.
It would indeed be tempting, but I would think that the Patriots should shore up the basics such as the OL before reaching for those bright, shiny objects....unless that bright shiny object is so outstanding that you have to take him, i.e. Hunter. It looks like the Patriots will be forced to do the sensible, solid, albeit boring, thing and draft Campbell, alas.I’d almost go against everything I believe and draft Tet or Jeanty at 4 just to try to strike gold on a playmaker.

I think we all need to accept the fact that we are getting neither of the above.Travis Hunter is WR1. If Carter gets taken that increases likelihood we get Hunter which is fine with me.

Sure there's an easy comeback. Campbell simply does not have the measurables to be an LT in the NFL against NFL talent. He would be a historical outlier and the most likely scenario is he struggles and has to move to guard. And no, assuming a guy will switch positions with fundamentally different requirements and needs for technique and will just be an all pro. Doesn't work that way.So let's pretend you have a valid point. 1) No matter what you claim, Will Campbell is a massive upgrade over Vederian Lowe, who is our starting LT at the moment. This is not even a debate. A mediocre Campbell is far superior over one of the worst tackles in the league. You have no comeback for this. 2) If Campbell has to move to guard, it is still believed that he will be an all pro. His skills are that good. There is nothing shameful about drafting a guard with that much potential if this stinky draft. He would start this year at LT and then reevaluate. Double dip at LT in this draft. We need two anyway. 3) There is no doubt Campbell is a fighter and leader you want in a poor locker room. We are missing this type of guy, and it makes a massive difference.
Tet cannot tie the shoes of most WR from last year's first round draft pics. He would have been a 2nd rounder last year and yet you act like has Randy Moss potential. He just doesn't. Anyone who knows how to analyze college tape sees it. It just the casual NFL fan who has a WR fetish that cannot.

The Patriots have had issues fielding quality WR's since 2019. Not a surprise that was when they stopped having playoff wins. It's a passing league. It's not the 2000's or even mid 2010's. Patriots fans still believe in an archaic model where WR's aren't important. Tet is FAR more likely to be adequate at the position he is drafted. If he's even AVERAGE as far as projections, he's better than anyone we have. Campbell might mean Lowe stays at LT simply because he won't win his matchups in the NFL. This is even funnier because Campbell wouldn't even be top 20 last year in the draft for an OT with all his questionmarks
I agree id rather draft the best RB or TE in this draft than a guard. So your hope for their first round pick is that he will be “ adequate?” They can get better than adequate with their second round pick. And this isn’t a Campbell vs MacMillan debate, they have a number of other ways they can go with that pick than just those two players. Membou, Warren, and Jeanty are all going to be much better than adequate players in the NFL.
I've been a big supporter of Campbell at #4 even as a guard but i'm starting to waver a bit.f

If we draft Jeanty than we can shop Stevenson for a mid to late pick.

Over the last 6 years Pats fans have said "x player HAS to be better than what we have now". Saying a guy who probably can't even play the position of the guy you want to replace doesn't need a comeback. It's wishful thinking and cope.Any yet you still have no comeback. Lowe was one of the worst tackles in the league last year. Campbell already has the skills, discipline, and technique to be better. If you deny that, you are either a liar or delusional. He is the best lineman in the draft. Are you seriously claiming Campbell cannot make the switch to guard? Just stop it. Campbell has certainly been a top lineman for the last two seasons. You claiming he would not be to 20 last year is a lie you just made up. Now you are posting so you can just read your own crappy content.
Yes, the Pats have had trouble since Edelman retired, and yet you want to sustain that by drafting a 2nd round WR at 4. Oh that makes a lot of sense. Hahahaha. No one said WRs are not important. No one said this isn't a passing league. I said you are clueless in your evaluation of Tet.
Just so you know, Tet will not be the #4 pick. You can take the to the bank and kick and scream all you want. Its not happening.

Campbell ain't going to solve your line problem, take that to the bank and you'll be reading about Pats fans crying about WR's sucking and dropping balls again for another year.
Membou at 4 is a bit scary as 1. he plays RT and would be a projection and 2. while not as severe, at 33.5 arm length is not as long as you would like but the 82in wingspan is fine.If Vrabel and his team in their front office draft to make the fans happy then they will fail at their real job, which is to build a championship team. They need to be picking the best players they can get, not trying to fill the fans desires. If Hunter and Carter are gone I would take Membou at 4, and then either a DT or a WR with their 2nd pick, depending upon who is still available. They shouldn’t be trying to do the entire rebuild in one offseason, they should be trying to add as many really good prospects/players as they can, then do the same next offseason. If things go right they could turn themselves into actual contenders again.
