at this point, why would we be interested in trading for him? first, we already signed diggs... doesn't make sense to trade assets for another wr with a busted wheel.

secondly (though I disagree) based on everything that's been said about the draft, the most probable selection at 4 is Travis Hunter because BPA, (1ward/2carter/3sanders) despite the glaring need (and direction i think we should take) at LT... if you add a WR at 4, then you don't need to/shouldn't give up draft capital for Aiyuk...

and lastly, he rebuffed the Patriots last year... clearly doesn't want to be here... why build around a player who is unhappy being in New England?

Where do you stand make a trade or let the Browns or Niners have him?
I'd rather a LT but I'm not so hopeful there will be one on the trade market. We still have a big need at WR and a good amount of money to spend so I think we should do it unless Vrabel and Wolf have other plans for the cash.

Aiyuk can probably come back form his injury just fine... they've gotten good at dealing with ACLs and MCLs. Not to under sell the injury.

His contract isn't bad either for the Pats. He'll cost 11M this year. 16M next year and a 9M dead hit the year after if we don't resign him or can't extend. That comes to 18M per WR... for that quality of WR that's a good deal, even if he only plays half of this year. Keep in mind outside of his injury last year he's been very dependable. over the last 3 years he would have averaged about 1100 yards a year if you look at his per game basis. Pretty solid. Also just turned 27... so he should be good and bounce back well. A lot to like here.

The only question is even if we cut Bourne can we afford him realistically? We have a players getting a massive pay raise next year. Even if we shallow a large dead cap hit and cut Dugger is may be a bit tight.

Personally for a low enough pick, I'm STILL for the idea. And i'm still for drafting Hunter if he falls to us. And getting a LT in FA. As for how we'll afford this next year... Worry about it next year. But here's an idea... if we have T. Hunter, Aiyuk and Diggs next season... do we need Hunter Henry? Or could we save 8.5M and eat a 2.5M dead cap? I'd be fine with that.

No surprise there. Nobody wants to pay that bonus. That includes the 49ers, but they have to if nobody else does.

Nobody wants him. Why would anyone want to pay him for half a season at best? York is going to be pissed paying this money. Seat is going to get hot for both Shanny and Lynch if the 9ers implode again this season.

Take Warren at 4 and help set up the cap move.

I think if we were in on Aiyuk we wouldn't have signed Diggs until next week. SF going to have to eat some contract if they want to trade him.

Schefter has said Aiyuk is expected to be available to play by midseason. That’s a longer recovery period that expected.

I wanted him here last year but he didn’t want to come here and the 49ers did their usual crap of dragging out contract disputes to the last minute and it bit them in their asses. They were better off trading him away last year. Now they’re paying WR1 money for a damaged player who might not even be one of their top 2 WRs for this season (Jennings and Pearsall). Let them sleep in the bed they’ve made for themselves. Have fun paying that $22.85 million bonus.

If Hunter is there at 4, take him and then trade back into the end of the 1st Round and draft Conerly Jr, for LT Pape?

SF media has talked about how the 49ers need to stop dragging out contract disputes.

If available they probably take Travis Hunter at 4 (ugh)... They should take Will Campbell at 4.

If you do take Hunter though and dip back in for a LT, not Conerly... we jump back into the end of the first round, get Josh Simmons

It seems we can get another good (or great) prospect at WR in the draft either at #4 if Hunter is there or in the end of 1st or staying put at #38 there will be good options there, Aiyuk is the safer option but this new regime needs to start getting it right drafting and developing WRs, if they go massive OLine in the first 2 days, maybe they can take a flier on some 4th round prospect and move on from Baker.

Not to mention we have money but very soon Gonzalez will reset the market, if Strange lives up to his draft position we might need to pay him either to keep the OL stable. And last I have a theory 2 star/Divas WR in the same WR room never works out, and we made a choice in Diggs. For me Higgins was the 1st choice and Aiyuk 2nd but now this train has passed.

Simmons potential is for real, but they'd have to have done extensive medicals on his knee. Connerly Jr. is said to posses "Blue Chip" pure LT abilities. And, could be a Day 1 starter. He would be on this team!

Everything ive read says developmental... Will have to have another look see into him

Could the 49ers simply cut their losses and move on from Aiyuk, before the extra $24.95 million vests? Nope. Because Aiyuk currently can’t pass a physical, and because the payment is already guaranteed for injury, they’d still owe him the money, even if they cut him.

No, but he lost his leverage with his injury. As others have said, 49ers are looking to dump his salary. Reading some recent reports, they are looking to trade him and it may happen fairly quickly as he’s due $31M bonus on April 1st.

No. He’s not the savior. He was worth the money to the 49ers, but not at this point with the Pats. Aiyuk isn’t that guy that can transform an offense and take them to the next level. And it’s a major red flag how badly out of shape he was when he came back to play.
He admitted himself that last offseason he wasn't in the best shape he should have been wich in turn helped lead to the injury guys still a good player and he could thrive here.. That's what happens sometimes with players when they let thier emotions and feelings get into contracts.. let the agent handle it while players always should focus on thier bodies..

Damn not Lynches best deal
Shanahan is the one who actually pushed the deal. They were on the verge of trading him to Pittsburgh before Aiyuk showed up at the facility and talked to Shanahan.
