Ok, can we just draft good receivers for once? We’re not getting anywhere with these hypothetical trades we never land.

I think it's very telling that Vrabel hasn't touched Willis, Moore or Cooper. You know. Guys who were on the Browns at one point last year.

What is this infatuation with Mehki Becton and Oli Udoh? They are worse than what the Pats have currently. Which is saying something. Bringing Becton in to be a Left Guard doesn't make a lot of sense. It would be another position switch for him and there is no guarantee he could handle it.
Good point about the Browns connection.

I don't think Tee is available or going to become available. Aiyuk probably is, but there's a lot of question marks with him.

The Bengals next season could end up breaking records on offense and still end up being 9-8. They have no idea how to build a team. Overpaying your receiving corp to satisfy your QB is not the way.

I still think there could be other receivers that come available via trade other than Tee Higgins.

I fully understand that AAV doesn't always equal cap impact, but Burrow is at $55M/year and they want to do $70M combined for Chase/Higgins? That just feels idiotic. They'll of course be able to kick the can and keep adding a new void year each season and converting it all to bonus and all that. It won't ever be as extreme as the AAV suggest until after those guys are gone at which point they'll likely be rebuilding anyway. But damn lol

You must be new here. There's plenty of armchair GMs here who would 100% do it the way you scoff at.

I think they haven’t touched anyone and let a whole lot of good free agents sign elsewhere.

Any potential offensive tackle signing would be nice at this point, they let all the good DT’s sign with other teams.

They have had Higgins and Chase for awhile and with all that money going to WR the only thing getting broke is Burrow behind that OL

Kupp may not be the best for a desperate team like the Pats anyway. He would be viewed as a savior, but he wouldn't be here, and he's not a dominant #1 anymore. He's a good #2 for a team with established offense - which is clearly NOT the Patriots.

Lastly, Vrabel just said in his presser "we want players who want to be here". It is pretty clear that Kupp is looking for something pretty specific, hoping to profit from a little bidding war, and a good paycheck to finish out his career. He isn't looking to buy in to a new fan base or start investing in NE.
It’s tough to find a #1 WR who “wants to be here” above all else. Especially when they’re coming off two terrible seasons and 2 years straight of new coaching staffs. I like the mantra and logic but it can’t be a one size fits all approach. Top Wide Receivers are divas which is why Boston for the most part hates them. We like dirt dogs. But dirt dogs won’t help Drake Maye reach the next level. Brady was a once in a lifetime talent who could make decent wideouts good and good ones great.

Am I missing something? Because I didn't think very highly of that jets offensive line last year. Now we have two members of that group.
Maybe they think with better coaching Marrone will be to get them going

I don't think they are as desperate as some fans want them to be. I think the foundation is being laid, and leaders, culture, team first guys are clearly what they are building in this early stage of the roster build. Former captains, hard work ethic, known commodities. Do we know any of those types who play WR and are available?

Its early. I get that. But not one offensive impact free agent signing yet?
Drake needs help
Now they will be forced in draft to take best offensive player available in each round not best player available

Welcome aboard our new Free Safety Epps
Here is a fair scouting report video from when he was signed by the Raiders. BTW we need a guy like this doing videos for Pats. What a voice!

We’re in the situation teams that don’t draft well find themselves in. You suck, and nobody wants to play for you and you’re forced to overspend to bring anybody in.

This teams drafting has been terrible for years. Want. Legit #1 receiver? Draft one.

I'd rather sign a ton of guys to small $ that actually want to play here and that are motivated to make more $. No we can't keep 100 guys lol but they'd make for a great camp battle.

I have a buddy that is a sports agent in another sport but he told me today that a buddy of his had a client that told him the Patriots are off the list. Like usual he would not tell me who the player was but said that he has heard me mention the player as a FA want. Not saying this is the case with anyone else, but I found it interesting that he didn't even want to hear from the Pats.

Edit: I think I know who it was, but it makes me wonder if any others have felt the same way

While I can't vouch for your buddy, but his story, whether fact or fiction, highlights the reality of being a GM for one of thirty-two teams.

Some fans have this naive view that GMs can just pluck players off of a list, instead of the reality of having to compete with 31 other teams for scarce resources.

Kupp signed with Seattle. 3yrs, 45M
