2025 LT

Do you not understand that Drake is right handed and LT is his blindside?
Yep. Second most important position. Wolf has royally phucked it up up to date. So thus the likely Elon Musk firehosing of money for the Ronnie Stanley Steamer. Guaranteed to play at least 60 percent of his snaps.
I just don't think guard is the priority this year. We have Owneu, Strange, Sow, Robinson. I don't see the Pats dumping any of those for a new guard signing. Wallace is the RT backup. Andrews hopes to be back. That is six. We need a starting LT and RT.
Onwenu has not done his professional obligation to keep in shape during the off season. The past TWO offseasons. True he was coming off an injury two years ago. But he eats like Andre the Giant put down beers. If only his workouts were as relentless.

I for one am ready to trade him. Especially if the PI I hire shows a 370 pound specimen lounging poolside. And how good was his play last season? What does PFF say?

According to my eyes, there was a drop off.

We need the draft capital. And unlike Wallace I have an optimism about Robinson. But only at RG.
If we sign Becton, we have room for one draft pick to back up LT if we sign a FA.
I’m on board with this. Mekhi probably plays better than Demontrey Concrete Feet Jacobs at RT.

But Wallace was over drafted, Wallace was drafted for "need" not because he was the BPA, and Pats management quickly declared on draft day that Wallace could be a LT (which equally quickly was exposed as a huge overstatement).
It’ll be like this draft when a team takes RT Logan Brown of Kansas in the second round. Dude is furiously climbing up the boards with his length, size, and elite athleticism. But he’s a guy who could legitimately make the switch to LT methinks.

I wonder why the Jayhawks had this stud on the right side?

Sometimes players just do better on one side vs another. Maybe their LT was terrible at RT, but Brown could play either, so they put their best pair on the field instead of having a standout LT and a mediocre RT. Spitballing here, but there could be extenuating reasons.

We have to throw that bank at Stanley even if he plays 60%. This is why we draft a quality LT immediately as his backup. There are some excellent prospects in round 3.

I totally get what you are saying about Owneu. It is very frustrating, but I am chalking it up to Lazy Mayo and his coaching style of "Be My Buddy." I am sure he is a good friend, but he is a poor coach who failed to motivate his team to win. Vrabel already said he has been in contact with Owenu and that went well. Vrabel won't tolerate laziness. If Owenu fails, yes trade him.

I have optimism for Wallace and Robinson. Wallace was very good at Penn State and showed good promise. Regardless, they are not quitting on him after 1 year under Mayo. I would still find a starting RT though. I am fine with Membou at #4 if Carter and Hunter are gone.

If they want to pick up Becton, great. He is a truck. Figure out his position in Camp. Maybe that pushes Owenu to work. Or they put Owenu out to RT and Becton at RG. That is not a bad thing.

Arionye Ersery

Has Wallace shown that he can play in this League?? Inquiring minds want to know.
No but he also hasn't shown he can't play in the league. Having said that i am not giving him anything and feel we need competition across the line except MAYBE Owenu

As of yesterday PFF has the top tackles as follows:

1. WILL CAMPBELL
2. ARMAND MEMBOU
3. JOSH SIMMONS

I would do whatever it takes to double dip on getting 2 of 3. I just showed in the mock draft simulator that it is possible.

I am very open to Will Campbell now he would be a Starter.

I'll preface this by saying OL is probably the position group I struggle most to evaluate, and I appreciate I'm on an island here, but to me Ozzy Trapilo is the safest tackle pick in the entire draft.

There's no question about him being a tackle or a guard, maybe a discussion to be had on whether he can play LT, played both in college but was mainly RT.

I think he's the most solid pass protecting tackle in the entire draft. He's not a monster who knocks rushers on their ass, but he consistently keeps them away from the QB. I think he only gave up 3 sacks in his entire college career.

He's not very effective in the run game, he's not going to drive anyone out of their lane, but he'll stand there and block. But he could definitely improve there.

I'm seeing him ranked in as varied a range as 2nd to 4th round. If we could nab him in the 3rd I think he'd be a steal.

Yep.

Then draft the William & Mary kid, Charles Grant. This kid has the tools and character to develop into a solid LT. 33 3/4 inch arms with the superior athleticism and work ethic!

Don’t force it. Let thx players come to you. Both of these guys should be available with our two third-rounders.

A thought. Last year Eliot wanted to draft Notre Dames Blake Fisher. The RT they wanted to move to LT. Old friend Nicky with the Texans nabbed him before the Patriots could. He started at RT with the Texans and struggled a bit.

Then we reached for a lesser talent in Caedan Wallace. The RT with Penn State looks like a marginal starter at best—but only as a RT.

This year’s RT at LSU, Emery Jones, may be talented enough to be moved to LT. He is on par with Blake Fisher. A dominant RT who never saw LT because a towering talent occupied the spot.

Worth a shot?

Anything is worth a shot lol I would just take several in case of duds.

I think he's someone scouts envisaging moving to guard rather than staying at tackle. At least, that was the narrative on him around the time of the senior bowl.

He was atrocious this year so I’d prefer to see them go in a different direction.
