The OTs need to be addressed via the DRAFT

This is a whole lot of talk without a single name being thrown out that would be available and fix the position.

You know why, because there isn't a single guy in this draft that is a can't miss prospect at the position....not a single one. There probably isn't even a guy that a better than 75% certainty.

Kind of a weird report. "In the coming days"? There's only 6 days left until he can start "legally" talking to other teams and enter into a verbal contract agreement. So I mean... yeah... they kinda only have "the coming days" left available.

Theyre still in talks so nothing definitive, but i
get the sense they are hammering something out . I really hope Im wrong but Im not confident whatsoever in them letting Stanley walk

Drafting players at a position doesn't improve the position if those guys aren't good. It's a very simple concept really. if you can't grasp it and it's the dumbest thing you've ever heard then IDK what to tell you. No one is saying it is silly to use high picks on OTs. I am saying that part of why teams hold onto OTs with death grips is because the position is so hard to play in the NFL that they don't trust the draft to consistently find them because it's such a difficult projection and there are so few guys who can play the position at a high level. Drafting someone highly doesn't mean they're automatically a good player.
Ivan, you talk about using the entie draft on OL. Thats dumb. Period.
No one pushes back on the IDEA of using a #4 pick, or any pick on an OT. Pretty much everyone here wants to do that, again.
Like three guys here WANT to do that.

You are living in lala land

Josh Simmons. I want him. I would draft him tomorrow at 4 - No questions asked.

Will Campbell would be my second choice. Since I don't think we will get jumped at 4, eh.

Haven't done much work on the RT spot - Okay, any work on the RT spot.

If Stanley makes it to free agency he should be priority 1 for NE.

Doubtful that Stanley is tagged. We'll know for sure in a few hours.

As for extension: Imo it doesn't make sense for him to sign an extension a mere 6 days before he can officially talk to other teams. Of course I thought it'd be dumb for Alaric Jackson to do the same and yet here we are.

One thing I'm sure is that if he makes it to the market, the Ravens are not in position to come close to what we can offer.
His agent will have talked to the Pats and know if the Ravens deal is close. If so, it might be worth it to Ronnie to stay in Baltimore. I expect Alaric's agent did the same and discovered that no other deal was going to be better.

Yes! But…not at 4. Scar said no OL in this years draft is worth 4
Some Pats Scouts just got kick in the nuts after that statement.

I can definitely get on board with an OT at 4 if the evaluators at the Pats think one is worth it.

So a guy with barely minimal arm length; that broke out against bad competition; never mind a knee injury that apparently have him completely off some team's boards? Yeah that is probably a 50/50 swing at best.

I have another little game I want to play.

Carter, Ward, Hunter go top 3. There's no dance partner for #4 for Sanders, or there's no dance partner offering enough value to warrant a drop from #4 to where ever. The team's choices are:

an undersized OT who's probably a guard in the NFL, albeit a really good one, in Campbell.
an undersized DT who probably needs to be moved to a different scheme in Graham.
a WR who might be big and slow, N'keal Harry 2.0, in McMillan.
a guy who's probably the only true LT in the draft but might be redshirted in Simmons.
an undersized RB who might be generational in Jeanty.
taking a guy who the draftnik's say is a reach at #4. Membou, Jihaad Campbell, Banks, Warren or any of the other guys who are probably a top 10 pick but not a top 5.

What do you do? This is where they are stuck in limbo. This is where the board is going to melt down because there's no bonafide top 5 bluechipper, but there's guys in the top 10 that are, for lack of a better word, fine.

Yep if Marrone signs off on Membou as a top 10 pick and we can do that with a trade down, I'd be ecstatic.

And if they think he's worth it at 4 I'd also be on board.

We need a guy for this year we can't piss it away again with LeGarbage Lowe @ LT. I would love Josh Simmon if we get Ronnie Stanley as a placeholder.

I'll take Two please I don't get this BS talk about Mason Graham.

I'm kinda on that program, coming around to Membou as well. I'd be happy with any of the names I mentioned if they were picking 8-12.

Raiders need a QB... Saints Need a QB Hmmmm: even the Jets need a QB. IF Anthony Richardson can go Top 4 so can Shedeur Sanders.

To each their own....to me that is like betting on Easley again, and we did that further down the draft.
different guy

different position

Maybe this will help Ivan understand what a strawman is.

It’s the question we may face. I was listening to Zo and others and they are dead set against Campbell at 4. I think they said shortest wingspan and arms since 2011 for a tackle. He’ll be moved to guard and you don’t pick a guard at 4. Graham has his size issues on D, so he’s now likely a no go at 4.

They thought the 2 best players and likely best chance to be all-pros after Hunter and Carter are Jeanty and Warren, but both play positions that typically don’t get picked high. I’m thinking maybe Warren at 4 if we can’t trade down.
