Question:
Is Membou, Moore or anyone else, going to be better than Campbell ?
Bench Press Leaders: Will Campbell (35 reps), Elliot Mealer (29 reps) 616 lb squat. He the man braa... 319 lb ran a 4.98...please... gonna be 21 years old... Road grater, run every one of our backs behind the man..

None of this makes him an NFL LT instead of an NFL LG.

I suspect that he will succeed at either.

I do not have a problem with a LT at 4.

I also don't have an issue with a trade back as long as we can still get the guy we want... Dropping back to the 20's probably is not going to get that done... but 10, 12 etc? that might be a sweet spot.

as for as a second pick, the 69th pick could be a good spot to pick up a RT... use 38 & what ever you get (if its not in next years draft) to use on the DL
Agreed

Trade down at 4 and buy Wolfie and Grow more scratch tickets. A couple of picks are bound to hit sooner or later. This could be the draft that puts these 2 visionaries on the map. The Chargers should send a cold cut and cheese tray over to the Pats war room before Goodell drops the green flag draft night.

Both Membou and Campbell are better tackles than Dan Moore will ever be. Because of his Combine measurements Campbell is expected to be moved inside in the NFL, and Membou is expected to stay at Tackle. I would be fine with either Campbell or Membou at 4, but they would probably have to go back to the well next year for the long term answer at LT if they drafted Campbell. However he should get them through 25’ at the position.

Bench press is much easier with short arms. No surprise that Campbell had the most reps

I am not opposed to Will Campbell now with how Teams hold on to those guys. If you have one that can play in this League: you can have them for Ten Years. We had the worse Tackles in the League. Even with that short wingspan Will Campbell is light years better than Lowe. I'm not judging Will Campbell against the Almighty I'm judging him against the alternatives.

This is not a negative comment on Campbell, BUT short arms make for easier bench presses.

in order to trade down, someone will have to want to trade up

3/8 inch makes a difference? You lift? I'm impressed you can tell..
1 1/2 inches short on each arm compared to the NFL standard for tackles of 34.

Yeah feeling here is Campbell doesn’t need to be Walter Jones. Of course it’d be good if he was.. but even in the top 5 there is still a game of chance. If could be told by a crystal ball he will be an 8-10 year starter and fringe Pro Bowler with some years maybe being better, teams would take that every time at such a critical position and in the top 5.

It’s not just about evaluating Campbell it’s also about the rest of the prospects. His good do they think he is as a LT and then also how good are the other candidates.

If they think Campbell is a high end LT they probably have to take him regardless. If they think he’s only an average or passable LT, then they probably shouldn’t pass on someone they see as a pro bowler or all pro with conviction. But if they don’t love anyone else like that… ok, probably go with the prospect at your biggest need then if you think it’s all kind of a crap shoot.

My general philosophy is that at absolutely no point should they be passing on guys they feel have pro bowl type potential for someone they don’t see that in. NOT AT ANY DRAFT SLOT

Right.

Would like to see Cam Robinson signed, trade down from 4 for a mid-first and second, and take a tackle among Banks, Simmons, Ersery, and Conorly. Might be ideal if we used our second round pick on Esery or Conorly. Let the rookie develop until Robinson and/or Moses are no longer viable options at OT.
