****ing Gostkowski's missed PAT, ****ing Jamie Collins biting TWICE on an Owen Daniels seam route, and Belichick could have kicked a figgie on one of the Pats' last 2-3 drives.....

And that day we were playing Vollmer who had torn his ACL...but still switched over from RT to LT cuz' Solder was out.

And that game should have never been in Denver to begin with...thanks to Chris Harper's muffed punt earlier that year in Denver!
Injuries derailed that season and BB made some really bizarre coaching moves that year.

My only guess with the Collins bites was because he was thrown off by how aggressive Denver was early on. Maybe the game plan was to stop the run. Weren't you guys shocked at how aggressive Manning was early on? Once Patricia punched him back in the mouth, the Broncos offense went nowhere. However, I've been watching old games when Collins was in NE and he had a tendency to sleep in coverage. Mayo was another guy who was awful in open space.

Should've never lost the first meeting in Denver. It would've been a moot point had they just beaten the Jets in week 16, then they could've had 2 weeks off. Or what about the Eagles at home?

I couldn't believe Bill kept opting to go for it on 4th down. Attempting and making the field goals would've won them the game.

We didn't lose to a team as good as the 2024 Eagles but we most definitely beat better teams than them. The greatest show on turf, the 04 Eagles, and Seahawks are better than them.

2024 Eagles are better than both Giants teams and the 2017 Eagles who are our 3 losses. Also better than the other 3 teams we beat Panthers, ATL, '18 Rams.

This Eagles team is pretty good and not going anywhere anytime soon so maybe we look back a little differently.

FWIW I think a lot of people were blinded by your 7 year run (me included) but the way Sequan ran combined with a team that was in the SB a few years ago too they were pretty clearly the best team in football this year.
God that 2004 Patriots team was insane. not only their regular season, but the post season too

beat 12-4 Colts 20-3. the 2004 Colts are a top 5 offense of all time and were 12-3 before resting starters in the final week

beat 15-1 Steelers 41-27

beat 13-3 Eagles 24-21. Eagles were 13-1 before resting starters in the final two games

so if the Colts and Eagles hadn’t rested starters you’re looking at running through a 13-3, 15-1, and 15-1 team in the playoffs. I’m pretty I saw something on Twitter that the top 5 teams by DVOA that season were the Patriots, Steelers, Colts, Bills (who the Patriots beat by 14 and 23), and Eagles

Greg Bedard tried to say the Patriots never played a team the caliber of the 2024 Eagles. So the "Brady never lost in a blowout" shouldn't be a feather in his cap.

Are the 2024 Eagles better than the 2014 Seahawks or 2001 Rams? Anyone want to try and make that argument?
Lets give him that the eagles are better than any team the Pats played. What happened when they lost to Tampa 31-9, which was more points in a loss than TFB had in his 3 SB losses. Tampa was not a world beater. Bedard is a tool along with most other Boston Mediots.

Imagine had the secondary been healthy in 2004.

Also, I would've like to have seen Terrell Owens healthy going against Ty Law.

NGL, you lost me at 'Greg Bedard'

Id say Brady’s legacy as goat is safe, yes. ours as goat dynasty/co leader in total rings is still somewhat threatened.

My Main concern is how weak the afc is. They all clam up against kc except cincy. Until one of them steps up kc goes to the bowl year in year out and its any given sunday where they can get every break/call and pull it off. This kc team was obviously not sb caliber but they pretty much had a free ride here and then its any given Sunday like the last 2 years. Fortunately the eagles didn’t let the refs affect it this time.

The coaches in the AFC are absolute dogshit in clutch moments. It's annoying. Including Cincinnati. They could be much better. There's no reason the Bills shouldn't have at least made an SB by now. Harbaugh is the closest thing to a great coach but, like Tomlin, he has a hard time with the cream of the crop.

Nothing says that more like taking a 3 point lead with 13 seconds left and calling the biggest dog **** douche bag defense to allow tyreek hill and travis kelce to run 20 yards downfield scott free. Mcdermott is terrible in the clutch .

Maybe it's the optimist in me, but we watched the start of the NFL's Drake Maye era tonight.

I think that’s a couple of years off, but the timing in the league looks good overall. They should be rising as the top teams recently will be fading.

I usually agree with Bedard, but he is way off base and I think he's rage bating. The 2001 Rams were the final the boss of the video game. They were that team back in the late 90's and early 2000's before management and coaching imploded. They really should've been a force for many years.

2014 Seahawks were also really good.

2004 Eagles were better than the 2024 Eagles. In fact, the Eagles were pretty much the last team standing after the 49ers injuries derailed their season and the Lions later on. While the Eagles are a good team, I believe they will get pushed back down the totem poll after the 49ers and Lions regroup/reload. They are basically the 2000 Giants.
It’s funny how nobody remembers how unbelievably good those Rams were. And the only reason nobody remembers them is because the Patriots came out of nowhere, knocked them off and then stole their place. The Rams would have potentially been a dynasty if not for the ascension of NE.

And that story would repeat itself several more times.

You mean pretend for arguments sake they are better than any team NE played? Because there is no argument for the 2024 Eagles being better than the 01 Rams.

People will try and say that KC had no OL. And TB front was too much.

To this point, there's no argument to have Mahomes>Brady. I think Mahomes would probably think that too. As Stephen A said, Mahomes might not even be above Montana.

What hurts Mahomes is the two blowout losses, 28-3, SB 49, Brady's performance in Denver with no OL.

You can say NE probably had no business losing to the 07 Giants or 2017 Eagles. Though the 2017 Eagles loss hurts Bill more in the Reid vs Bill race than any Brady vs Mahomes race. But NE also had no business beating Pittsburgh in 01, Rams, 06 Chargers and 18 Chiefs. It all evens out.

I get why he went for it. We couldn't move down the field the whole game. It was not very likely we'd get back down there. I don't think there was necessarily a right or wrong call there.

Seattle being another such contender. They beat the snot out of Peyton’s Broncos and then fell to Brady the very next season.
NE ruined a few potential dynasties in Rams, Seahawks, .

Bill's biggest blunders were before this game.

Any of the following DOES NOT happen and the game is in NE. Which completely changes everything:

Fake punt vs Eagles
Not taking the ball in OT vs Jets
Conceiding the Miami game

Maybe he assumed they were too good to lose to Denver anywhere.

The Miami game was horrific. Just tossed away home field for no reason. That was one of Bill's worst seasons. But followed it up very nicely..

I'll add this bit in for you, @Ross12 :

Year 2 - Brady barely misses the playoffs*; Mahomes wins Super Bowl
*Brady's shoulder was so badly separated that season reports later said he wouldn't have been able to play in the postseason.

If he had been 100% healthy? Who knows how that year might have gone.
One of the issues with crowning a GOAT before they are, you know, The GOAT, is that the body of work is incomplete. Mahomes is now 3-2 in Super Bowls. Brady was 3-2 in Super Bowls, and Montana was still the GOAT, and people debated that Manning was better than Brady. It wasn't until the Second Renaissance that Brady closed it out. Once Brady won the Atlanta game, the debate was pretty much over. The Rams II was the cherry on top, and then the Tampa win was proof that he didn't need Bill anymore.

Mahomes can still be the GOAT, but it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay early to have those discussions. Let's wait until he's in his twilight to measure him up. He's the best in the game right now, but he's far from the rarefied air that Brady flies in.

the Patriots offensive line was awful in SB 42. Brady probably would have taken close to 10 sacks if not for getting it out in like 2 seconds to Welker and Faulk a bunch of times. don’t know why this barely ever gets mentioned when I see people comment how bad Mahomes OL was in SB 55 and 59. the only reason I can think of is anti-Brady and the fact it didn’t look as bad to casuals or people who don’t know football since Brady was trying to get rid of the ball so fast instead of scrambling around in the backfield like Mahomes was. I saw a Reddit post a couple years ago where someone said they were friends with an offensive lineman on that team and that they were told the offensive line had gotten food poisoning the night before the game from Mexican food. I’m tempted to believe them given the fact that offensive line had dominated for the majority of the season and had 3 all-pros

I don’t know if the stat is true, but I saw a tweet that in SB 46 he was also pressured on 46% of his drop backs. another terrible performance by the offensive line if that’s the case

you mentioned the Denver AFC Championship Game which I think everyone knows about at this point. I think he took the 2nd most hits a quarterback has ever taken in a game since they began tracking it. 23 or 24 hits if my memory serves

I don’t see it mentioned much, but Brady also made the offensive line look better than it was in SB 49 (and the season as a whole). PFF had them ranked as the 23rd best offensive line in football that season. 8th in run blocking, which is good, but 31st in pass blocking, which is awful

I agree, quoting Greg Bedard is a wikipedia move.... however.... The 2024 Eagles are a great team. I'd say they are probably top in the 10 of Super Bowl winners. I'd love to see how they'd match up vs the 2004 and 2014 Pats or the 2007 Team That Must Not Be Named. I think this Eagle team would hold their own against any of the Super Bowl Champions.
