So the Bears are notable here, because they own both the 39th and 41st picks in the draft.

So let's say the Bears really like a guy like Adbul Carter, Mason Graham and want to move up. The base of the trade:

Our 4th pick < - > Bears 10th pick and pick 39. This exchange is pretty much equal in the Jimmy Johnson trade value chart.

But as we know, that value gets inflated in the top 10. Assuming pick 41 would be too steep, but could also potentially be able to coup another 3rd as extra value here if they want to move up badly enough.

With that 10th pick, we either take one of the tackles or Mike Green.

Thoughts?

Please believe me, I don't mean this to sound argumentative, I am merely playing devil's advocate. If you are comfortable having Mike Green over Abdul Carter, why wouldn't the Bears be?

This is why I think we'll have problems trying to find a trade partner. Is Carter better than Mike Green plus whatever you'd get with your second round pick? Is Mason Graham better than Walter Nolen or Kenneth Grant plus whatever you might get with your 2nd round pick? Of course there's no telling how much a team falls in love with one player so it's certainly possible but I find it hard to justify logically.

I think there are two players that might tempt teams because their skill sets can't really be replicated in this draft: Travis Hunter and Tet McMillan.

Yeah i think Hunters insistence on playing both sides might turn teams off and he could fall out of the top 3 more likely than Abdul

I do think Carter is a bit more polished than Green. A bit of a safer pick. I do also think Graham is a level above the other DT's in this class.

So why wouldn't we want either over the others in the class?

We have a lot of needs. I think we could stand to stockpile some picks.
The other aspect to losing the 1st overall is that we lost the 1st on night 2 and day 3. That might seem small but when you consider the new format all these teams have a night to sleep on it and that drives the value of those 1st picks in later rounds even more. Buffalo really did F us lol

They didn't F us so much as our former coach did. Mayo and the Pats dropped trou, bent over and lubed up. Hard to fault a division opponent for obliging the Pats HC and completing the deed, they'd have been negligent if they didn't

This is no longer true
Full draft order at link below, although I don't know how they determine it.

Oh that is weird but good to.know. now it's just 1 kick the gonads as supposed to 3

Tiebreakers are used for the first round, and then in subsequent rounds the team that had the earliest pick in the prior round picks last, with all the other teams moving up one.

In our case, had we lost against Buffalo, we would have had the #1 overall in round 1, but then the 4th pick in round 2, the 3rd pick in round 3, etc. As it is, we’re rotating among the 4th, 5th and the 6th picks each round since we tied with Jacksonville and Vegas at 4-13.

If you feel your gonads aren't getting their commensurate level of abuse I'm sure the Sox ownership could help
