Vrabel's Staff Discussion Thread (Discuss related news here)

You missed mods wielding the big hammer in the pinned Vrabel Staff thread, making that one only announcements with no discussion allowed or the hammer will come down on you.

So there’s really no need for that thread because everything there also gets immediately reposted here so we can discuss it.

You’re not really missing anything by not following that thread, except a discussion about color blindness and what text color should be used for what positions in a chart of coaching positions that somehow misses being hammered.

That chart is actually pretty good, but it would be better if it were over here where we could discuss it…
Yeah we just enjoy having a power trip... lol

The point of the other thread is so that someone has a resource to be able to see the important updates without having to wade through pages of discussion, arguments etc. It is the same as the player roster thread that @DaBruinz typically keeps updated.

It is nice to have a spot where you can get the real and important updates on the staff with a quick read. I didn't touch requests about color changes to @Zuma's list he has been posting, but admittedly those are getting a little hyper-specific. So we will see how future posts go.

So I just listened to Bedard during my walk and he's concerned about Marrone and others on the offense side in that they seem to be Vrabel's guys and not McDaniels'. I would think McDaniels would have insisted on staffing decisions before taking the OC position. Was he that desperate that he would giv that up, or is Bedard off base.

Bedard should stick to his knitting club, where they all join hands and fret. The head coach hires the coaching staff, he doesn’t choose two coordinators who get to make the rest of the hires. And MacDaniels, unlike Vrabel, didn’t have the leverage to demand that he get to hire the rest of the staff. I wasn’t a big fan of Marrone as a head coach, but he’s way more than qualified to coach the OL. I think Vrabel has done an excellent job of putting together a highly experienced coaching staff.

I seen that video
He said he now believes Kraft forced JM on Vrabel
I call BS. No way Vrabel agrees to that
I think what Vrabel is doing is JM has a great mind but has nit worked that much in the WCO
I think Vrabel is choosing coaches that can assist JM with verbiage and such and JM will run with it

I get the sense from reading other people’s posts that all Bedard does is talk ****. He has absolutely no proof of anything he spews his crap about, and just throws **** at the wall hoping something will stick.

I don't think you guys are on a power trip or anything (or you'd be quite disappointed expressing it in a Pats fan forum lol) but it was a little awkward having news and rumors in a thread and not being able to discuss it

You got it.

Bedard manufactures fictional storylines all the time. He takes great delight in presenting as a contrarian and he has ample company in his efforts as a regular on the Vulgar and Spazz radio talk show. A good rule of thumb to go by in listening to him is to bet on the opposite of any stance he takes on anything.
I don't know about that. He was pretty early reporting about the Patricia/Judge OC dysfunction as well as that with the Mayo.

He is kowtowing to Felger and Mazz
The more negative you get the better for those two idiots

Anyone else lukewarm to the Marrone hire? I associate him with losing other than that fluke run to the 2017 title game with Jax.

I was the same until one of our great members educated me on the pluses of his hire. Seems to be a great fit for an OL coach. Has those ornery qualities you’d think/expect an OL coach to have. Need attitude to play in the trenches and he seems to have loads of it which should rub off on the players. Now if he was a HC candidate, I’d be fully against it, same as McD.

Masslive says we signed him, patspulpit says we’re trying to get him. Is it confirmed either way?

Tyler Vrabel (born June 24, 2000) is an American former football offensive tackle who currently works as an assistant offensive line coach for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons after playing college football at Boston College.

Tyler's Wikipedia page is not the same thing as Tylers's page.

To be clear, I admire you for your dedication, diligence, and patience herding this bunch of feral felines. And I sympathize with the challenge of finding news in the morass of off topic meandering threads that sometimes characterize this place. Flip side to that is the need to double post every new development, once in the news thread and then in another thread for discussion. There’s no good clean solution.

It’s not just awkward, it’s challenging for some of us (ok, for me) to remember correctly which thread I’m viewing and whether or not that thought that just popped into my head my mind can be posted before…oh look a squirrel!
Nothing says you can't discuss it here.
As we are.

Good to know. I stopped reading Boston papers and listening to Boston Sports media about 10 years, and haven’t missed them one bit. I’m only going by what others are saying they said. And I got the impression Bedard was going the Felger route, I.e… just be negative douchebag and make **** up.

He's not a LB either Cap... unless u like Hawkins at FS..
@captain stone @PatsFan2 @signbabybrady

I'm totally all in on taking Carter at #4.. was watching ESPN special on the draft with Mel kipper. We were 27th in offense and 31st in defense..Carter is 2nd best draft prospect in the entire draft. Guy IMO is a day 1 starter... so we are talking Carter, a healthy Barmore and gonzo as the pillars on defense. We'd just fill in the other spots in FA and later rounds. Having Vrabel alone is already an upgrade from the volunteer program coaches last season.
