FWIW Deron was a coach with the team before Jerod.
As an assistant. Jerod promoted him to the head strength and conditioning coach.

Folks don't see the difference between an assistant (essentially an intern) and a position coach or even an assistant position coach.

In any case, promotions should require performance. I think Belichick's kids did well enough to be promoted. Did Mayo's relative deserve this promotion? I don't know.

You can count the number of players on last year's roster who improved in 2024 from 2023 on one hand.

Pathetic.
I think if we really sat down and went through it you'd probably have to admit more than just a handful improved. Not by much but what I think might be equally concerning or maybe even worse is how many guys went the other way or like Baker and Polk that never even got off the ground. Hopefully no permanent damage was done but unfortunately I think there were some good contributors from the past that may never get it back (some of it might be age but damage done).

Kind of a big overnight promotion. Stephen and Brian never had such a jump. Stephen got through the door for free but fought for every inch he crawled up.

You understand it's not a promotion...right? He would be a 1st time coach like every coach was at one time.

The results indicate he was no more ready than his brother. Injuries, team getting it’s ass handed to it physically, etc.

I think that the comparisons to Mayo and Belichick is a bit off.

It looks like Tyler might get an intern job.

Belichick and Mayo hired their relatives for real jobs. Belichick's sons did a good job. The less said about strength and condtioning last year, the better.
Bill's kids were around working long before they got their assistant roles. They were doing cut ups as teenagers.

Probably. It still sucked.

How do you know no one cares? I havent had a chance to talk with people who hold positions in the NFL to know if it chaps their arse or not. If it did how vocal do you think they would be? This is a team that currently lacks a culture and an identity. I think its crucial to set the tone early and not have anything that looks "shady" right out of the gate. Is it a big deal if he does now have a BS job, probably not the end of world. I just dont agree. And if he was the best jock strap carrier he would have references other than his pop.

Maybe he knows a ton about football, he’s been around it his entire life. Somehow I don’t see Mike Vrabel letting his kid coast any more than I did Belichick. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vrabel’s expectations for his kids job performance is higher than anyone else working there.

I thought about Bienemy earlier this month and was surprised we hadn't really heard anything about him. Not sure why this didn't leak out sooner. He's not a top tier OC but he seems baseline competent, and not a flight risk, which might have been something Vrabel was seeking.

You have no clue what his resume looked like before he got hired.

I have a friend who's cousin owned a training facility for over a decade. And as a private trainer he worked with tons of athlete's from HS kids trying to go D1 to guys in the Pros.

And Pretty sure Daron did the same.

In this area a lot of the clients I heard about were hockey players. I can't speak to Deron but some of the names I heard about that cousin were pretty impressive.

I think with what Vrabes put together so far, the coaching will be superior this coming year compared to what we have had the past few years. There’s only a few hires he made that are head scratchers. The bears interim coach for one. Forget the other. As for his kid getting a job, meh who cares since this things rampant in the league. Plus you know why…bb’s kids. That said, I think the more the merrier. We have had a slimmed down staff for how many years now? Does anyone know the total coaches we have now vs mayos junk year vs bb prime vs bb post prime? Would be interesting. Also, does anyone know what vrabes had his virgin hc year for staff? I realize there could be holdovers from the previous regime…

So we have like 3 or 4 pages arguing about nepotism based on a wikipedia entry which is itself based on a citation simply linking to Tyler Vrabel's twitter page, which contains zero mention of this job. Huh?

I'd rather just have kept Bob Bicknell; this other dude here didn't impress when the light went on him last season.
This guy is the WCO sound board and probably Josh McDaniels insurance if In Case he flames out . I think this hire is good.

A few things. First of all, it drives engagement to the board, why the complaining? Also, over the last few months I have seen you throw some of the craziest unsubstantiated “theories” out there that have driven the same type of engagement. Again, why the complaint?

Apples and oranges

Right, but does it link to Mayo's potential lawsuit against Kraft?
