Why no? He was a great dc with the 49ers and the jets defense was good too. If Vrabel wants him I trust Vrabel to be able to evaluate if Saleh is good. At least I expect improvement to Covington

Why would I want a guy who sucked as a HC but wants a jumping spot for his next HC gig? Gee.. Not to mention that I don't think a coach that coached 1 good Defense in 2019 is all that. 2017 and 2018, Saleh's defenses were 25th and 28th in points respectively. In 2020, they fell back to 17th. So, this idea that he was "great" with the 49ers is.. umm questionable.

2022, he had a top 5 defense, but then it fell to 12 in 2023.

From 2012 - 2021, the Pats defense ranked Top 10 in points every year. Going back to 2006, they only ranked outside the top 10 in points ONCE. And that was the undefeated season of 2011. So, I'm looking for them to get back to that consistency instead of peaking into the top 10 every 4 years and stinking in between. Which is what I think Saleh would bring.

I'm hoping that Vrabel's goal is to bring in guys who want to spend the next 1-2 years getting the Pats back to that defensive dominance and then the 1-2 years following to be consistent in that dominance. They have some pieces to do that in White, Barmore (if he can return to playing), Gonzalez, and Dugger. Jennings is a good supplement, but the Pats need more at D-Line, LB and Corner.

4-3

They had Brian Branch as their ball hawking safety now that they have Arnold at CB.

Thanks. It will be interesting to see if White is a DE or a DT in that system..

With that in Mind, I'll have to look at their LBs. If they had light ones, ala Dugger/Peppers, then it will be interesting. If not, then I would expect Peppers to be dealt at some point.

I wonder if it's a Minnesota 4-3 where they had a NT and UT or if it's the Classic NYG 4-3 where either of the DTs could line up over the Center.

Either way, unless they add Jeffery Simmons in trade, a DT is going to be a must add in the 1st two rounds along with OT.

I would definitely like them to add Bobby Brown from the Rams. I think he's a good, all-around DT who would be a good sub behind Barmore.

With a 4-3, neither Bentley nor Tavai have the wheels to be a MLB. They'll need someone for that. Maybe Zach Baun. Cody Barton or Ernest Jones would be lesser possibilities.

I think Abdul Carter is too good a talent to turn down.
Gotta get pressure on the QB.

Well it's funny because the NT has a connection with Vrabel as well. DJ Reader was drafted by Houston when Mike was there. He replaced Wilfork and got his first multi-sack game on guess who? Tom Brady.

I think he can gain 15 pounds and not lose much speed.
I think Vrabel falls in love with him.
To be clear....he does not weigh 250. He is closer to 240.

Still small at 255 to play the edge.

Agree completely. I would be happy with Vrabel bringing Saleh in. I don’t blame what happened with the Jets in Saleh at all.

This coordinator hiring period is giving me PTSD flashbacks from last year when all the top candidates came off the board whike the house burned in Foxboro.
Come on Vrabel don’t leave us with table scraps

************ Sam, do you ever stop worrying? Vrabel was preparing for his next HC job long before he came here, he knows what he’s doing. Let him put his staff together, he’s not going to screw it up.

BTW, after reading that article, it's unlikely that Williams is going anywhere unless they can find a Hockey Program the equivalent to the one they got him into. You can see in the article that it was a BIG DEAL to the family and Williams' wife.
