I dunno about that, there's plenty of competition from the old days. Mayo just needs some seasoning, and he needed experienced coordinators at his side. He's a good leader and he could become a good HC some day.
Sorry. Hes done nothing to support your beliefs.

I think Jerod is sincerely a good dude... I just don't think a HC is his thing.. he's best suited with media gig.
Not sure how you can say that, when he spent the 2024 season throwing others under the bus for his failures. And when he had 5 years to prepare for the role and apparently did nothing, setting back careers, and putting the franchise and peoples' livelihoods at risk. And his exit has been so childish and toxic, it's hard to believe he's a grown man. No, Jerod Mayo isn't a good dude. He should be nowhere near any team endeavor in the future. He's not smart enough to be a media commentator.

Mayo needs about 10 years experience getting his hands dirty learning Xs and Os, schemes, strategies, tactics, positional techniques and situational football. Then he MIGHT be ready to try HC again. Coaches lead by putting players in position to win -- not, as he said in his intro press conference a year ago, by "building character in young women and young men" and "seeing color."

I dunno....I'm not sure that was his issue. He spent 11 years as a player and coach learning from the best.

I think the real issues were his inability to lead and manage with clarity and consistency.

Mayo, the great communicator being given a media gig?
Shannon Sharpe has done very well for himself in the media. Made more $$$ than when he was playing.. mayo can do the same..

And his inability to figure things out in real time.

It could be that you are both right.

Is it true that Mayo was unable to lead and manage with clarity and consistency, and also true that he needs a decade of experience learning Xsand Os, schemes, vstrategies, tactics, positional techniques and situational football?

I’d say it is. As the results show.

And his inability to figure things out in real time.
And that too!

@Tunescribe certainly isn't wrong. Bill had 50 years worth experiences to accelerate his diagnosis of what needed to be fixed during a game.

As a whole, the coaching staff was light on experience...at all levels.

No matter how hard he studies -- and he won't -- but even if he did, it won't increase his IQ by one point. Nor will it change his core values: Jerod Mayo comes first. And, if things go wrong, it's someone else's fault. Those are fatal flaws in a leader. He has more flaws, but those are enough, and they are fixed personality traits. He is toxic to an organization.

Exactly.

By shutting BB Jr out, what Mayo did was not in the best interests of the NEP.

Furthermore, it's pretty obvious why BB had BB Jr call the defensive plays.
Compare Steve's demeanor on the sideline to Mayo's. Steve would have been a better head coach.

I agree with what your saying., steve really did know what he was doing.Mayo knew that it was steve b that was responsible for the how well the defense played in '23, not him or covington. And i was one of the posters that busted steve ass about his mullet, or seeming to have touerrets.
That dude was LOCKED IN on the sideline.

I was sitting here in my recliner playing Meteor Strike and all of a sudden it came to me that labeling steve b as having touerettes may be way off. People with touerettes have facial ticks, grunt, and will yell vulger languege involuntarily.Plus it doesn't come and go, it seems that the only time he seems to do it steve b makes those facial gyrations is when hes under the stress of making defensive calls on the sidelines, on game day. So i don't know what the issue is for sure.
1. Not all people with Tourette's swear. To be diagnosed, you must have motor and vocal tics that have lasted at least one year. There's no vulgarity requirement.
2. It can come and go. People with Tourette's sometimes have long periods with no noticeable tics.
3. The frequency and intensity of tics can wax and wane, influenced by stress, illness, anxiety, tiredness, etc.
