You have it the other way around. Bill didn't want Caley in 2023 so he left.
That is not how I remember it. Bill wanted him for the role without the title. Caley said no and moved on. FWIW, I can't blame him for not taking the job either time. It just feels like the team should look into the other options at this point.

No love for TC McCartney anywhere?
As OC AVP does not have the time to lead the offense week to week and work on player development. It was unusual for Maye to get as much time as he did with the OC and first offense. Milton had none of that. The QB coach had to be do a great job. I hope that he stays.

I keep hearing Vrabel would want Shane Bowen for his DC
I know he is Giants DC and they said they are going to retain him when it seemed fuzzy at first
What if they didn’t release him because then they would have to pay his contract when they might suspect the Patriots are going to sign him and they would owe him nothing
If the Pats ask about him they could just let him out of his contract and the Pats sign him
Just a thought
What do you all think of him for DC

fair enough

McCartney has worked under AVP for 5 years.

I suspect that AVP would be a better passing game coordinator.

If Vrabel wants McCartney, that is an option that also would help Maye.

If McCartney genuinely did all the work with Maye, then he should be offered a continuing position.

AVP as passing game coordinator and QB coach would likely help Maye a lot, no matter who is chosen as OC.
He didn’t help him this year. The last guy I want coordinating our passing game is Alex Van punt

OC there are only 3 realistic candidates for now
1. Rams QB coordinator
2. Josh Mcown
3. Josh McDaniels .

McDaniels seems like a slam dunk hire.

Is there a way we can poach Charlie Weiss Jr from Ole Miss to become future OC.
Josh Mckown? Why?????
His entire coaching career is coaching bryce young to failure one year and Sam Darnold to choking the next.
Whatever coaching he provided the guy I just saw lose 2 critical games by not figuring out how to score points with those weapons is something I want nowhere near this team.

The other only realistic choice whose name you don’t know is Dave Ragone who coached QBs to failure for 6 years in Chicago then failed for 3 years as Atlanta’s OC before spending one year as qb coach with the Rams which you seem to feel makes him good by association?

We need proven good coaches.

I remember it as he interviewed and Bill went with Matt. His contract expired so he went to the Rams.

I blame him for MP as OC, so he is dead to me, LOL. The reality is that he's spurned the team twice already. If he is worth the investment, are Maye and Vrabel enough for him agree to join the team this time?

He spurned Belichick, who was always extremely reluctant to name coordinators, and usually made them wait a couple of seasons without the title before giving it to them. If he’s offered a coordinator position, and the $$$ that goes with it he may well take it.

The longer Vrabel waits on this the more likely it is that he’s eyeing someone who is still in the playoffs for the position.

Paul McCartney is way too old for the position.

Proven good coaches are either retired or have jobs. I want the next young genius that's willing to see Drake's development through for the next 4-5 years.

Thank you AJ how quickly people forget about his lateral passing Offense. Our Offense was pretty close to bottom when last I checked: 3 and out.

I don't know AJ: I was kinda feeling McCown...I am also Open to McDaniels and Nick Caley. Who's your preferred choice??

I’m not saying that I want AVP back as OC, but it is hard to have a vertical passing game when the OL can’t block pass rushers for more than 2 secs.
