You move on.

If you examine the Vikings 2024 season you will discover many wins vs lousy teams - Jets, Giants, Jags, Bears x 2.
MIN needs a one-year transition QB. Darnold is still their best choice, likely a transition tag.

I hear Jacoby Brissett can be a good one- year transition QB while McCarthy gets ready to play….

Before the last two games, I thought for sure Minny would franchise tag him & see what’s what. Now ? Why bother ? They can “do well” with him, but not win it all….

Someone will pay Darnold good money. Not nearly as much as he might have gotten if the last two games didn't happen, but teams are desperate for QBs and will pay him.

Speculation of the Vikings keeping him and trading McCarthy are probably out the window.

Don't sleep on the 49ers signing him though. If they can't get Purdy at their price, Darnold will likely be a cheaper option and I think he can do well in Shanahan's offense.

I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to pay that.

He's not Baker Mayfield. Not close.
No, but in this cycle, he might be the only thing close.

I think people forget. Bad QB-ing gets coaches and GMs fired. Teams are going to be desperate for a QB. And some team is going to overpay for Darnold based on this season.

Yes.

The analysts seem to think that he is nowhere near ready. He is currently 30 pounds underweight.
Where are you seeing this? He was nearly 220 at the combine.

Milton is another option for QB needy teams, like Darnold is.

I assume Dalton was a typo.
1 game against 2nd and 3rd stringers isn’t enough to sell a team on Milton as a starter

No, but in this cycle, he might be the only thing close.

Maybe no one in this cycle gets that type of deal.

Looking at Ross List:

Titans/Browns/Giants/Titans.......... at least two of those teams will draft QB high. Do the other two really think Darnold is their answer or do they compete #1 next year?

Jets have Rodgers. He's willing to come back. Do they eat all that cap to pay Darnold over Rodgers? Same with Saints and Carr. Huge cap hit. .
I think the Seahawks stay with Geno.

I guess the Colts and Steelers are intriguing. I doubt the Steelers give Darnold that type of contract.

It's up to the Colts! He's in fact their type of player.

Teams needing a QB

Titans
Browns
Giants
Raiders
Seahawks
Jets
Vikings
Steelers

Others who might need

Saints
Colts

Considering the QB draft class and emergence of just 2 decent prospects there is going to be huge demand for tier 2 bridge QBs

Available QBs in free agency - Rodgers, garopollo, darnold, Mac Jones, brisset, Geno Smith , dAniel Jones, Mariota, Justin Fields , kenny Pickett.

Darnold is probably the best and will probably be heading to raiders or colts.

At least 12 teams will be punting on next season which means you just need to be top 14 amongst 20 serious teams which includes jags, Tampa, dolphins, Panthers etc. with decent cast reaching post season next year should not be that difficult considering 12 teams have bridge or rather very poor QBs .

The Colts have Joe Milton Sr., they don't need a new QB. On a different note our Joe Milton seems to take to coaching compared to Richardson.

The Colts have shown evidence they are souring on Richardson.

But how many of those coaches/GMs are on the hot seat. They can’t afford to wait a season because they don’t want to overpay Darnold. They need to win or they’re fired. That is what is going to drive someone to overpay for Darnold.

Yeah I guess those stats (4000 yds 35 TD's) will suck someone in.

Darnold was just so bad before this year.

If JJ McCarthy struggles, everyone will want Darnold back in and then you get nowhere fast with your rookie QB. Just move on to the future.

Jacoby winning and making the playoffs only to lose like the Steelers do every season does not move the needle. Maye playing this season was the best case scenario. If he sat all season we would have no idea that he is ready in year 2.

Clock struck midnight and Darnold reverted back to his Jets form. Some dumb team is going to give him a lot of money.
