Vrabel Press Conference

I'm unhappy that Maye's first HC in the NFL was Jerod Mayo. Imagine coming into the league and not only have to endure that BS, but defend it at points because you're not the kind of guy to undermine your team, period. Jerod Mayo is BK's dark stain on the Patriots franchise. But Bob can still redeem himself.
At the same time it’s a valuable lesson for the kid because he was shown how bad it can truly get, and now will work the rest of his career to ensure they don’t go back to that place

I looked it up. He liked a tweet saying he should be traded to the patriots to play for Vrabel.
That is not really a rumor, that is more like something the player wishes would happen. It probably will not happen. However, it speaks volumes of the pull that Vrabel has that a player of that caliber would want to be traded here to come play for his former coach. It most likely is a sneak peek of how much better off the Pats will be in free agency this year vs last year.

Wolf was absolutely correct. Mayo was so far in over his head that he hd no idea how to develop players. You don't need to defend that comment. It was true.
Nope. Not letting him off the hook. We even saw improvement from some of the receivers like Demario and Boutte.
Wolf reached and reached badly. Polk and Wallace in particular. It's pretty shameful to blame your own mistakes on Mayo. You honestly think Ladd McConkey would have had as bad a season as Polk because of Mayo? Do you really believe that?

This pretty much answers all questions… Vrabel seems fairly clear that he is running the show… and says fairly clearly that Wolf was prevented from “investing” last year due to “some things”… as in, nobody wanted to come here to play for Jerod Mayo so Wolf couldn’t buy anybody.

Sounds like he is saying kraft wouldn’t let him spend freely. He didn’t say challenged he says prevented
This is something I wanted to hear from Vrabel because it’s clear this was something he needed assurance on. So we will spend this year.

And I agree that what happened last year is in the past. In hindsight they screwed ip so badly it turns out good now that we have a grown up in the room to do it right.

Also very important Vrabel didn’t say get players he said get them in front of me in front of the players we need to evaluate.

It does not matter if you disagree or if you would throw it all away. You are not Kraft, in the front office, or Vrabel. Perhaps you think they should all listen to you, but I don't care about that either. We are under 2 months until free agency opens, and 100 days until the draft. Guys are employed all year long to produce that data. You don't just can everyone and start new right now. You use them and then dump them.

Every personnel decision Wolf made was wrong? Are you a drama queen or something? I am not a Wolf fan, but he drafted Maye. That was not wrong. He extended Barmore. That was not wrong unless you are an idiot who says Wolf should have known Barmore would have blood clots. Antonio Gibson was not wrong. He was a great signing. Jabrill Peppers was brought back. There is now way anyone knew he would have legal trouble which seems to be a false accusation at this point. Mac Jones was traded to the Jags for a 6th. I would have been happy if we gave the Jags a 6th just to take him. Matt Judon was traded to Atlanta for a 3rd round pick. Its Judon's worst year since he was a rookie. Auston Hooper was signed and had a good year. Hunter Henry was brought back. Where would Drake have been without him this year?

Can you just stop being a drama queen for a moment and live in reality? Maybe its fair to say Wolf had more negative than positive, but not every decision he made was wrong.

Whatever you say, Mrs Wolf.

Both things were true: Patsies had bad coaches AND bad grocery shoppers. That's why a Clean Sweep should've been in order; but Bendover Bobby just...can't...let go...

True enough, to the point where we can’t judge the picks just yet. I’m sure Polk is a bust based on physical specs alone, but I will be happy to be proven wrong. It’ll be a great day if I must post “I was wrong about Polk.”

I’m no longer concerned about Wolf. Clearly he does not have the final say on players. Vrabel talked about a collaborative process, but you could just sense him flexing throughout. Besides, he’s bringing his own personnel guy.

Coaches for sure were out of their depth. The GM though? His draft, outside of Maye, seems pretty suspect but he claims his evaluation system was only partially implemented. Who know if that would have or will make a difference but it seems like MV is willing to keep him on in some role (hopefully modified) and I’m ok with that.

"Excuses had their uses but now they're all used up, all used up." - ABC

Et tu, Eliot? Wolf is a weasel of the most ignominious order and will gnaw off his own leg to supplicate before the all powerful Vrabel.

Anyway, Wolf is the first scapegoat of the new administration unless he hits on most of the top picks/FA's and/or their is a phoenix like rise in the performance of the picks in last year's draft. Long live the backstabbers.

The only confirmed backstabber in this is Wolf. I suppose Vrabel might at some point, human nature being what it is, stab back, but there are two culprits in what I predict will develop into a serious problem - series of problems. First, and most to blame, are the Krafts, who in insisting that Wolf remain as their inside man - a sort of intrusive hall monitor - have set up what will inevitably be a contentious - and failed - relationship between Wolf and Vrabel. We ought not be surprised at this. As with Mayo, a seemingly failing Robert has apparently developed some sort of man crush on Wolf and wants him around as a kind of binky. He ignored Mayo's incompetence and lack of character: now he is doing the same with Wolf. The second culprit, not the primary one but certainly the most baffling one, is Vrabel himself, who has foolishly acquiesced in an arrangement doomed to fail. He ought to have insisted on a publicly announced and categorical policy under which he or or his designee has absolute final say on all roster decisions., and on who will serve as GM. We hear Vrabel is a tough guy. In this matter, he has apparently been anything but. We thought he was a hardo - a significant reason he was hired after Mayo's confused Oprahesque babbling - but I wonder: first this weak move then that weird touchy feely press conference. Weird, and unwise.

"Once the guys cross that white line, there's nothing I can do for them"
"We're going to win more than 4 games"
"We're going to burn some cash"
If you noticed in bills comments on Vrabel when he got hired. He spoke glowing about him. When Mayo got hired he said nothing of the sort. Mayo should just take a media job ESPN or something if his ego will allow him. I don't think a HC will ever be his strong suit.

The only reason Vrabel wasn't hired Last year is because of the succession clause in Mayo's contract. We'd have 8 or 9 wins with Vrabel with this same roster last season.

Who!??

Here you go

You mean, they need to "know their place"? Heaven forbid you ever become one of them.
Our oldest lived in Korea for 8 years and in their social circles the senior person calls the shots.

In this country there seems to be a push to diminish the role of seniors.

Some of the best advice I ever got in my life came from my very old neighbor.
