2025 LT

I thought Skoronski was picked as a LT, didn't work out so they moved him inside... either way.

The listing for Blue Chips is short in this draft, generally some version of Hunter, Johnson, Graham, Carter, Jeanty.....that is about it. And it is highly likely at 3 we can pick any of them.

I'm out on McMillen in the first half of the draft, I just see him as a possession guy, he isn't going to raise the floor for the rest of our receiving room.

I wish the LTs showed up better this year, and didn't have so many questions....I don't need a 10 year all pro, I'd be happy with a top 16 guy for 10 years. At the moment I'm out on Banks, I think Campbell is the better LT, and he has the Guard fall back, I don't think Banks can play inside. Banks is strictly a LT, with question marks, that is a very risky pick high.

I'm not really interested in Hunter as a full time CB, I would need him to dedicate himself to WR.....he is just so explosive in the short area that he gets open in a way our WRs dont, and he is always looking to score.... I hate watching most WR highlights, it just always seems like they are wide open because of scheme....it wasn't that way in alot of what I've seen from Hunter, he is getting away from press at the line, he loses CBs on the break, he finds holes in zone. All for a guy that is averaging over 100 snaps per game.
Skoronski was a OT at Northwestern
His 32 1/4 inch arms moved him inside in the NFL
I think Campbell may have the alligator arms syndrome also. We will see at the combine

For what it’s worth:

Skoronski is 6’4”

Campbell is 6’6”

I’m not seeing “alligator arms” but they certainly are not long arms.

We will see but if Skowronski’s arms are 32.25” I would not guess Campbell’s arms are <33” just from this picture.

Nobody knows Campbell’s arm length until the Combine
I read some scout suggested that he heard his arms were under 33 inches
That and a token get you on the subway
If his arms are over 33 inches he goes between 5-10. possibly to us

OK good reply, I’m in general agreement with you but thought maybe you had come across something more definitive about the arm length measurement.

Allen did in fact play some tackle and was excellent there but that was quite a while ago and perhaps he wouldn’t be as good at tackle in this day and age. I’m certainly not suggesting that either Campbell or Banks is the next Larry Allen, I just wanted to make the point about the need for impact which you clearly understand.

There certainly is a value issue regarding OG or OC in the top 5. the only one I can think of recently was Skoronski (top 10) which is why I wouldn’t like seeing the Pats take a guy who is a “maybe OT but more likely an OG” instead of a guy with a better chance for success at a more impactful position like WR, Edge, DT, or CB.

Until the measurements question is resolved about them, Campbell and Banks would not be my preference as a top 5 or even top 10 pick. My own pecking order at the moment is as follows:

1. Travis Hunter, CB/WR
2. McMillen, WR
3. Johnson, CB
4. Graham, DT
5. Carter, Edge
6. Jeanty, RB
7. Scourton, DE
8. Burden, WR
9. Loveland, TE
10. Morrison, CB

If Campbell has adequate arm length I’d want him over everyone other than Hunter. If he doesn’t but Banks does I’d want Banks over everyone but Hunter, McMillen, and maybe Johnson (assuming no similar red flags with those guys). I really line Graham, Carter. and Jeanty a lot too.

This is just based on my own (admittedly no expert) observations watching these guys play. I would have Starks here if I was confident he could play FS. Of course he almost certainly can cover better than Dugger. There’s about 10 other guys I’d mention here as well. Plenty of potentially excellent players even if this draft does not have as great of a top 10 as last year.

Good thought process. I'm with you on almost all of the names, too. I'm not sold on MacMillan or Burden, but I like the rest.

I agree. I think if it’s possible that if the team can get a small trade down and still pick Campbell I’d be more than happy. Like others have said this team needs talent across the board and as much as I’d want Campbell to stick at LT I do think he can be a pretty good left guard if he has to slide over.

I like Josh Simmons Ohio State he is a pure LT. Yes he had season-ending knee surgery after sustaining an injury. But is recovering and should be ready for training camp so the word is. This guy when fit is in my opinion, better than Campbell or Banks, neither of who are true LT's.
May even get Simmons in 2nd round.

Sounds great. But I doubt any LT, with an injury or not, will slip to R2. LTs are too rare.

Banks is definitely a pure LT, it is the only position he can likely play, the question is if he good enough to do it at the NFL level. He plays too finesse to play inside, not a great run blocker (specially at the 2/3 level)....if he is going to play its LT. Its one of the reasons Campbell will likely go higher, even if he washes out at LT, he is very likely to be successful inside...so very low bust likelihood.

Pretty good overview of the top offensive line talent. If they get Hunter the hope is Simmons drops due to the injury and you can package a 2nd and 3rd and move back into the late 1st to pick him.
It is a paywall but you get to see comments on a few.

This upcoming class is emphatically less talented than 2024, but there are still several projected year one starters. Most of this starting talent is concentrated at guard. There are only a few true guards that I see as early starters right now (Alabama’s Tyler Booker, Georgia’s Tate Ratledge), but the ceiling of the guard class as a whole is raised thanks to many of the best tackle prospects having a viable and familiar pathway into the well-stocked ‘very good college tackle-to-pro guard’ pipeline (LSU’s Will Campbell, Texas’ Kelvin Banks Jr., West Virginia’s Wyatt Milum, Arizona’s Jonah Savaiinaea and more).

This isn’t to say that the tackle class is completely void of round one talent because that isn’t true either. All of the prior names could feasibly get a crack at a tackle spot, even if their ceilings are higher inside. My top-graded true tackles all could hear their names called in round one (Ohio State’s Josh Simmons, Oregon’s Josh Conerly Jr., Missouri’s Armand Membou)."

Sounds like good reasons to me to trade down a couple of times...

One of my wife's nephews attends Purdue, and he says their LT Marcus Mbow is like the best player on a bad team... Maybe somebody on whom to keep an eye during the draft process...

I know this is a LT conversation but I have become infatuated with Savion Williams and Jack Bech both from TCU

As previously mentioned by others I really like the kid from Minnesota. And apparently I know its way too early but he could fall out of the 1st round.

Matt Light endorses fellow Purdue guys, no doubt.

If we take an LT in round 1, I feel like Kelvin Banks Jr. could be the guy. Projects to be an elite pass blocker on the blindside. He also played against plenty of talented competition in the SEC. Maybe with a small trade down to the 6-8 range we take Banks and get that LT position sorted.
