Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Firing AVP presents a real problem. Fire him. Bring in a new OC. Mayo is fired. New HC wants to bring in his own OC.

So at least three OC's for Maye.
Or:

Fire AVP. Bring in new OC. Fire Mayo, elevate OC to HC,

Feel like we’re getting things confused here.

No one is saying AVP doesn’t suck. He just sucks the least.
No, some were saying he doesn’t suck. If not for that I’d agree with you.

Or: Fire AVP. Bring in new OC. Fire Mayo, elevate OC to HC, Ideally....fire Mayo & new offensive HC leads team to a 9-8 record next year.

Generating a pass rush shoring up linebacker and o line and add 2 new WRs should make us a 8 to 10 win team.

Then if they fire AVP as a a scapegoat who replaces him?
First of all, AVP is not a scapegoat. AVP SUCKS. AVP is a QB coach promoted way above his competency. That is not a criticism as hard as that is to believe. It is what it is. AVP is limited and I am sure he would be happy to go back to being a QB coach which he is good at. Everyone likes to do a good job. AVP will never do a good job at OC.

Noone who is competent will replace AVP working under Mayo. The Krafts know that. It is only a question if RK will swallow his pride and admit that he has no idea what he is doing. RK is trying to be smart and prove that he can run the team without BB. It is obvious, at this point, that RK is trying to compete with BB, and he is failing.

Mayo, Wolf, and Glazer interviewed OCs in 2024. It took months and months before they found AVP. It is now being reported that the interviews were wierd and marginally football related. The Pats now have a BAD REPUTATION in NFL coaching circles. No credible OC will interview for the Pats OC job if Mayo is still here.

The Krafts need to fire Mayo, Mayo's assistants, Wolf, and Groh and rebuild from scratch.
They should have done this years ago. The Krafts held onto BB too long, and are now pretending that they can manage the Pats without BB. It is time to get a professional GM and coaching staff, get Glazer out of football operations, and get the Krafts away from football operations.

I hope so but Reiss doesn’t think they will,

Here we are twisting ourselves into pretzels over who to keep, who to let go, who to bring in, how to get them, blah, blah, blah. NOTHING that involves keeping Mayo as head coach (and Wolf as de facto GM) makes ANY sense going forward. You can't "fix things" under people who are inherently inept.

The Krafts need to blow this thing up and start again from scratch with a sense of urgency.

To cut to the chase, this course of action is the only one that is palatable to me. The current Patriots are rotten to the core. Bandaid fixes won't work. A full football department rebuild is required.

Alex Van Pelt is a below-average NFL Offensive Coordinator. But, he at least has minimum competency at the job.
Did you miss the game against the Cardinals? Even Jon Kraft was in his owner's box saying the offense sucks. Minimally competent? Dude, not a chance. Matt Patricia's offensive stats with Mac Jones as the QB through 14 weeks are BETTER than AVP's offensive stats working with Drake Maye. If you think AVP has minimum competency, than Matt Patricia is an offensive genius? Dude, WTF.
When you're surrounded on all sides by incompetent people - it really shows through just what a difference minimum competency can be.
They are all bums. How can you tell which one is the better or worse bum? Mayo is incompetent. AVP is incompetent. Covington is incomptent.

Look at it this way. Do you think Drake Maye looks better than Mac Jones? That is a comparison of excellence to incompetence. Who shines compared to Mayo, AVP, and Covington? No-one. Why? Because they are all bums like Mac Jones.

Reiss is a homer. A really nice guy. I like him. He is also balanced and not over the top.

But Riess will never think that radical changes are afoot. It is not in his nature. If RK holds onto Mayo, it is a huge tell to the fans.
it doesn’t seem radical at this point it seems like complete sense.

Yeah he seems like a cool guy. I used to hit him up when he'd do the chats on Boston.com days. He'd then post the chat with the question's fans asked. Those were the days.

I remember.
But I hope he’s wrong at this point.

Oh man the Boston.com forums. Man I remember those too been a long time since I thought about that place. Wasn't too bad at all..then they shut it down for some reason.

I think we might be finding out just how bad of an owner RKK is. We laughed for two decades at teams that have bad owners, ones who keep their franchises stuck in the mud. He lucked into Brady, because IMO without Brady, BB doesn't make it past the '02 season at best.

No, we if they keep Mayo at this point, the emperor doesn't have any clothes. Everyone, from the fans, to beat reporters, to national guys know that Mayo isn't HC material, at least not right now. It would be criminal to keep him on for another season, and if they do next year won't be much better than this one. Depending on draft/FA it should be quite a bit better but won't be good enough to show that competing for SBs is very close.

Curran’s solution to all of this is to hire some old fart that’s been run out of the league for years to oversee everything.

Yeah, that’ll fix things

Curran's credibility is slipping as he struggles to ride the fence on what should happen with bosom buddy Jerod.

In case I forgot to say it already: #FireMayo
