Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

It's really sad when you get to the point where the best thing for the team is for the owner to pass on.
Bob will not give up top decision making power until he is legally incapacitated - and he will not fire Mayo.
But however much fans don't like the idea of Jonathan being the owner (because of nepotism), he is a more objective and shrewd businessman than Bob at this stage of life. And he would fire Mayo - which is what would allow the Pats to go farther, quicker.
Those are the facts.

Pats fans starting to sound like cowboys fans.

I think the krafts are the most incompetent owners in all of football.

I think Brady and BB were a lucky horseshoe these morons fell on.

I think Bob should get into the nfl hall of fame if he can hire another head coach that can produce a winning season.

I honestly don't know if he's capable.

The Kraft's are overrated.

They inherited a Super Bowl winning HC in Parcells who eventually took them to the Super Bowl in 1996 and put the Pats on the map as an AFC contender. Hired/fired a HC with a winning record in Carroll to hire a familiar face in BB who was the hottest HC candidate in 2000.

Kraft may see that without another winning season he’s not getting into the hall of fame.
This may cause him to be aggressive with the coaching staff and roster next season I hope. He needs to hire an outside party to make the hc hire, I think Scott Pioli or a player with sense like Julian Edelman or Devin Mccourty, would do a better job finding the right Coach,

I guess the question as well would be does Wolf stay as GM.
Picking Maye may save him,

As a longtime resident of the Washington area and someone pretty familiar with Dan Snyder, I would argue that his firing of Marty Schottenheimer at the end of the 2001 season was a mistake. The Redskins started out with five straight losses but finished winning eight of their last eleven games. However, Snyder was enchanted with Steve Spurrier, had the opportunity to sign him to what was the largest NFL coach's contract at the time, and canned Schottenheimer. Spurrier had 7-9 and 5-11 records with the 'Skins while Marty had a winning record in his five seasons in San Diego which followed his firing.
Ya. Carroll & Marty were the only ones that had a 1-year HC job, were fired, and then went on to great success later. Marty had previously been HC for 2 teams prior to WAS too. Most don't get that chance.
I'm hoping Mayo turns into a great HC, because I don't believe he gets fired for 2 more years and I don't want Pats to stink.

But, objectively, I don't see that Mayo has what it takes to be a great HC. The other young guys that got similar chances and have decent success are like Tomlin, Mcvay, Shanahan, Lafleur, Taylor, McDaniel, Ryans. And the common denominator is that they are energetic charismatic guys with real/specific top-level skill on at least one side of the ball. Mayo has none of that. He's a corporate manager.

Good catch. Marty looks like the best of the bunch at the time of firing. Opinions on Marty are varied, but he's mostly seen as decent/ok and not a guy who could lead you to playoff success.

Carrol did become a damn fine HC afterwards but it was way later in his career. He was out of his depth and correctly fired as one-and-done in '94.

The dominant trend among all the rest of the one-and-done coaches is that it was the right call. Firing your terrible hire after one year doesn't make you the jets. Failing to recognize it quickly and not moving on from your mistake is what makes you the Jets.

Shanny would be worth a first.
He would be, but the Pats giving up a top 10 (probably even top 5) pick for him would be tough.

If the 49ers would accept their 2026 first, and maybe a 2025 third as a sweetener, I think that would be an acceptable move.

I think the second rounder would get it done,
It’s a really high second,
However I’m not sure I would give the second when I can get Kingsbury,Moore l, Johnson for free.

Black Monday can’t come soon enough here,
Unless we win out or the defense starts to show their potential.

If Wolf is the GM, then the Pats picks have less value to the Pats.

Would you give up Polk and Baker for Shanahan?

Well yeah but they were a high 2nd and high 4th, not a high 1st.

Are you talking our 1st round this year? The 3rd pick
Certainly. Shanny with Maye would win multiple Suberbowls. So would McVay.

Plus Shanny can draft circles around Wolf. Shanahan has found multiple late round picks (Kittle, Warner) that will probably outperform anyone Wolf would take at 3.

Shanny gave up the farm to draft Trey Lance, who as of now is an EPIC Bust.
Drafting Circles around Bobby Grier maybe.

I disagree where there is smoke there is fire.
We've learned that the hard way a 100 times over as Pats fans.

At this point I don't dismiss any of these reports unless it's Volin.

Mayo needs to just stop talking during press conferences. He is ****ing terrible, constantly contradicting himself even in the same press conference. Its unbelievable. If he even thinks about adopting a BB trait it should be grunting at the podium and mumbling on to Arizona. He is ****ing horrendous when he talks to the media.
How does that affect the team on the field?

yep. Or a third option if its just keeping the same voice and working on Maye's mechanics etc... clean house and keep AVP as the QB coach. Normally I would not offer that up as an option because most people would not take demotion within the same organization in the NFL. But in this case it makes sense, to me anyway. AVP can have the option to stay as the QB coach or leave. Obviously, there are a lot of moving parts there and a lot of folks have to feel comfortable with it and agree. But I can see that as a viable option. AVP's play calling leaves me wanting but his work with Maye has been excellent.
The person I want gone is the one making the draft picks. It's difficult to judge what's happening with such a poor roster.

Not seeing a win on the remaining schedule. Sans Buffalo resting starters in week 17. If they get blown out for most of those games, he should not be back.
They haven't been blown out many games this year but the Bills twice is a problem.
They're the same team as last year but with a better offense and a worse defense.
