Wolf has made worse GM decisions than post Brady BB

There is a story out there that the OC candidates who interviewed with Mayo and wolf say the interview was light on football stuff. Very odd.

And Bill worked under the Kraft's.
===
But I get your point. With Wolf, Kraft has a much easier time hiring a GM than when Bill was here.

Of course Kraft signed the paychecks, but Bill decided everything. If Bill said "I'm now the GM!" what would Kraft have said?

I'm more convinced than ever that Wolf is just a placeholder.

You may have a point. Let’s be honest, there is absolutely no football reason to have hired Mayo. So whether it’s about his legacy, his personal friendship, optics, etc Kraft will hesitate to fire Mayo even though it’s obvious he didn’t belong. So firing Wolf and throwing the blame on him may be his way of shielding Mayo.
I am not convinced that krafts priority isnt what’s best for the Mayo project rather than the football team.

I think Kraft fires Mayo, hires a GM, and Wolf stays/retains the title all Bill's under links had.

Calls these clowns the transition team.

Hey all the not spending cap talk might have been brilliance by Kraft.

Why let this team mess it up?

No not the same.

Bill chose not to have the title. Wolf has not been offered the position.

Yeah the job description might be similar, but Bill ran the team period.

Wolf is working under the Kraft's.
These last few years BB did not have 100% control of the team.

Kraft took draft power away from BB and gave some to Wolf. There is no way that I will ever believe that BB picked Corky Mac and his noodle arm. None. BB was a DC for over 30 years and the very first thing that you would access when scouting a QB is arm strength. BB may have signed off on drafting Corky to go along to get along, but in 2022 BB wanted to get rid of him and Kraft said no.

That is how it went down. Kraft was pixxed that Brady left and won another banner that could have been his 7th.

This is how you nitpick the point I made?

Doesn’t make sense. If you are afraid to let them build a team why hire them?

Before anything else Wolf has to go. I have literally never seen a worse off season based upon the totality of decisions since there has been real free agency. A 4 win team had $100,000,000 and got worse.

Bring in a new GM. If Mayo survives it will only be for one more year. If we improve the roster his coaching issues will stand out.

We got the Qb but we will waste him if we don’t change management.

It makes perfect sense.

Firing Bill was a December decision. They really weren't prepared for what was next. And they knew it.

Now they've gone from the worst job in the league to the best without doing really anything, except draft Maye.

They can bring in whomever they want for management. Last year everyone would have passed.

I think that my issue is different from that of most of you. I would keep Mayo, Wolf and AVP, and hire a GM, DC and a top advisor to Mayo. Obviously, there could be coaching changes and upgrades of college scouts.

I am OK with Wolf's chosen strategy and almost all of his choices for the future. Obviously, he needs to make some good choices with the $140M of 2025 cap money. Doing that will make the draft as easy as it can be, given how poor the choice of talent is. I think that the $140M is enough to give us the talent to make us a playoff contender, even if Wolf only hit bigtime on half of his signings.
===========
MY MAIN ISSUE IS THE CHOICE OF COACHES
Again, my views are a bit different.
1) I'm OK with AVP continuing to develop.
2) We need a play-caller on Offense.
3) I think that I'm OK with the OL coach. He has done quite a bit with the worst talent in the NFL (certainly the very worst after all the injuries).
4) All the other coaches on Offense can go or stay, I'm indifferent. Obviously, I would like upgrades, especially at WR coach.
5) Covington should go, full stop. I'm fine with rest of the coaches on Defense, except that we need a couple of more, including the DC and someone who will be calling plays.

BUT FIRST,
the real decision is whether Kraft hires a GM, and how much power will he be given.
Obviously, the key issues are the hiring of coaches, coordinators, HC and perhaps top-level advisors.

To save some face, I could see Kraft hiring a top advisor to Mayo to focus on the Defense. AVP and McAdoo are fine for the Offense, presuming that necessary upgrades are hired.

Yeah I disagree. There is no real evidence that record, or roster have any real impact on coach and gm hirings. Many of the best choose to come to what many consider a bad situation because they want to clean house and start fresh.
This fan base has turned fully into victim mode excusing every failure with “who would ever come here.”

The open question is how much faith the Kraft's have with Wolf. They could double down. They could fire him. They could leave him in his present job and hire a GM with the power to hire and fire coaches.

It's a "Collaboration", just like it was the last few years with Bill.
Anyone that says Wolf isn't in charge of personel is fkn stupid.

BB did not have 100% control.

I can't figure out what you are trying to say. Hitler didn't have 100% total control.

The discussion is Wolf not having the GM title.

Is your point that Wolf has the same power that Bill had?

Otherwise your comments are not relevant to the discussion.

These were all the negatives pieced together from various scouting agencies and they are all coming to fruition

Bottom line:: common denominator is lack of separation and fast twitch athletic ability. No more drafting wise receivers who struggle in college to beat man coverage

That was as dishonest as it gets.

Not record. QB/cap/draft position are the big three.

Why do you think Harbaugh chose the Chargers?
Coaches choose jobs for many reasons.

We had more cap than anyone, the third pick in every time and the choice of a number of round 1 QBs.

Wolf has earned zero faith. He has been terrible. Flat out terrible.

Somehow they didn't mess up on Maye so it's not flat out terrible.

Wolf belongs in the backup quarterback commercial.

With all the bad moves if they hire a real GM in a month to oversee this mess, the franchise is in better shape now, if only because of Maye.

Wolf is the perfect #2.

Only the Krafts are listed under Front Office on the team website. Why am I not surprised.

Yeah they are general manager.

Just like Bill was. Wolf holds the title like Scott Pioli and others.

It's probably the agreement he's had with Wolf all along after messing up with Mayo.

They will bring someone in, and Wolf will stay.

What happens to Robyn Glazer? She is reporting directly to the Kraft GM family and managing the GM function. Do you think Glazer reports to the new GM? Do you think any professional GM will take the position with Glazer reporting around him directly to the Kraft familiy?
