For those questioning how important WR and coaching is to a team

Sam Darnold is now 11-2 with the first place Minnesota Vikings with 28TD passes

Yes… the Sam Darnold who was eviscerated & pilloried by the patriot community for being a draft bust as a NY Jet. He was a mockery.

He’s no joke anymore. Did he suddenly improve his game exponentially? Or is his remarkable improvement based on two all pro level WRs lighting it up weekly..Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Drafted at 22 and 23 overall…both these guys have turned water into wine at the QB position. Elite separation and playmaking ability. Replace Jefferson and Addison with Bourne and Douglas and Vikings would be 2-11.

This is how we build for Drake Maye…in today’s NFL. OL and Pass Rush are vital, but start here. Add explosiveness to our offense!

Coach, WR, OL is the magic triangle for QB success. Darnold was the most JESTS of the Jets draft picks, undermined by chaotic coaching and player changes. Unfortunately the Pats seem to need upgrades at all three points of the triangle.

Kraft this NFL is all about Offensive head coaches.
Go get Johnson, Moore, Kingsbury or Brady and if one of Shanny or Mcvay become available even for trade please pounce Please.
Maye deserves it.

So? The Pats weren't a QB away.

See a pattern with NY Jets QB's: that's why I'm not giving up on Zach Wilson and hope he gets another chance.

Will be rooting hard for them if they end up in Philly for the playoffs.
What could give more schadenfreude than to see the JETE watch their cast off QB win a SB while seeing their very expensively acquired former SB winning replacement QB going down the drain at Jimmy Hoffa Stadium?

Pats are 0-3 on that magic triangle

We were a lot closer to a QB away until we decided to blow everything else up too
IMO, if we were a QB away, then we are in great shape for 2025 as long as Wolf spends the money and has at least a 50-50 hit rate.

Of course, we weren't only a QB away. We were a QB, two OT's, two WR's, a LB, a CB and a S away.

You left out the most important missing piece. Coaching. We used to be able to coach around our weak spots. The OL via injury and poor drafting and signing was probably more than coaching away but everything else could have been overcome.

one of the players I was very much wrong about. I’d have never ever thought this guy would turn it around.

Seems like every season there's a retread QB that surprises people. Geno. Mayfield. Now Darnold. Who do we think the next surprise will be?

I think there are probably many good QBs who were drafted by bad teams that were ruined by that team. I think it is an underrated thing that happens. Unfortunately for them, they never get a second chance to prove themselves or just go from one bad situation to another. Darnold is lucky that he went from two awful situations (Jets and Panthers) to one of the best ones for a QB.

You gotta wonder over the years how many highly drafted QBs that flamed out on bad teams would have flourished if they went to a good situation. Usually only the best QBs can overcome the bad teams that draft them.

Does that mean Maye is one of the best?

I don't think wolf has a problem at all spending.. I'm just worried about The what he spends it on.. I understand stand he has to fill out the roster. We just need talent man.. anyway, shape or form.
