Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

The biggest improvement this team can make in the offseason is for Mayo to take some serious psych coaching.
1. Don't try to win the likability award, re-instill old-school discipline (fear)
2. Follow corporate America and dump the DEI philosophy, hire the best possible asst. coaches & staff
3. Keep your mouth shut, except for taking ALL responsibility of the team
LOL, thanks for a much-needed, early morning laugh with your item #2! Yup, you're right - there's no "good old boy" networking or nepotism in corporate America! It's all based upon merit...

Good post! Well said! LOL.. mayo just needs talent #1 and seasoning.. no HC in NFL history came in with all the answers.. he's either going to become a better HC or he won't last long in his job. Simply put!

Mayo made mistakes and deserves criticism but some of you guys are now making things up to make him look worse, you're just speculating, you have no idea. Let's criticize him when he deserves it but be fair about it too. He's here next year so better get used to that idea.
If Mayo is here next year I won’t be.

I am a fan of the Pats, NOT of a rich man’s play thing.

I am not going to support them when they put their own ego and arrogance first, and the fans as an afterthought.

I really feel bad for Drake Maye being put in this position.

He deserves better, and deserves coaching that will allow him to reach his potential, which at best is the driving force behind another dynasty.

The Krafts were not responsible for the first Pats dynasties and actively damaged it.

You would hope they would learn.

All professional sports teams are rich people's playthings. (the exception being the Packers). They're not running charities out there.
But they are serious about winning, for the most part.

You are telling me that the Krafts hired Mayo as HC because he gave them the best chance to win?

Only hubris says that.

I think the old man saw something in him. Plus, Kraft is a good lefty so he wanted to give Mayo a shot because of immutable characteristics.

And to think. Some of us said this hiring was a disaster at the time and didn't particularly enjoy the **** coming out of Mayo mouth literally in his press conference.

If you was paying attention you knew that the things that mattered to Mayo the most were not indictive toward a winning culture.

It was clear to many of us at Mayo's inaugural press conference that he was going to be a terrible leader. We called it. You come in day one and proudly claim that you hire and fire based on "Diversity." Mayo came claiming he wanted his staff and team makeup to look like "the world." On this forum we said, fans and players won't care about skin color, just go get the best staff and players period. Mayo clearly had other motivations. Not to mention the rumors that he was backstabbing Belichick. If true, then you don't want to touch this guy with a ten foot pole and consider him for any position on the coaching staff.

People that think this way, the way Mayo thinks and makes decisions, and how he manages a team, probably can't be changed. It's so ingrained in them.

Mayo should be fired by Kraft, because I don't see a guy like Mayo being able to change himself or his character to lead a team. Mayo in his first interview, outright claims he was hired because he is black. If Kraft believes he still has massage parlor problems, then Kraft may be keeping Mayo as an insurance policy to look good, be politically correct, and to possibly to protect himself from whatever might pop up on those massage parlor videos that a judge ordered to be destroyed. Because hiring Mayo in the first place after all the backstabbing and poor leadership qualities, had normal people questioning this decision.

Anyway, bottom line, I don't think you can change Mayo for who he is. It's ingrained and some psych coaching may be well meaning, but I don't think it can change Mayo when he's got a pretty warped leadership style that was evident on day 1

And the fans need to tolerate this?

Fans should speak up with their feet and wallets and see if Kraft is able to swallow his pride.

His ego is not the Pats fans burden to bear.

They have two more home games. We'll see how many fans show up. The Chargers game is going to be dire since not a lot of their fans are going to travel cross country to spend time in the freezing cold.

They should hire Vrabel or Brian Flores at HC, keep Van Pelt as QB coach for continuities sake but hire a real coordinator. They should also hire Belichick’s kids back from the Washington Huskies to call the defense… he should have been the hire all along.

None of this will happen of course, BB had to keep rolling Mac Jones out there to the tune of 4 benchings before Jonathan admitted he sucked… so there’s that.

Some fans get to personal with Mayo.. criticism of him as a coach is fine.. but all the other nonsense is pointless.

Should be fun to watch just to see Ladd McConkey tearing the Pats up, and dreaming of what could have been.
He's a nice slot rookie WR. He bails out Herbert alot.
