Patriots Rumors: Veteran Expected To ‘Get His Wish’ With Release K.J. Osborn survived the trade deadline, but might not remain in New England

Unless Osborne would rather wait on the practice squad of a contender for his chance, I don't see him moving far up the food chain in another organization.

If you can't crack this group how good are you?

Honestly think he got a raw deal. Pretty sure he's a better option than everyone ahead of him other than Pop and Boutte, but they force at least Polk and Thornton ahead of him no matter how terrible they look. I get why they do it but if this was the plan he never should have been signed to begin with.

Through the first four weeks Osborne got about 70% of the snap counts.

He totaled about 30 yards.

Ok it's with Jacoby, but still.

That's not a raw deal.

He definitely was first up at the start of the season. They've had a pretty steady rotation with very little luck with anyone all year.

It looks like Pop, Bourne, and Boutte might have proven be our top 3 but I doubt Mayo is done yet rotating and will probably give Baker and Polk more chances instead of just letting some continuity set in.

Releasing Ozzy just to give more snaps to the collective pile of poo known as BoneyT, Polk & half-Baked is doing a Disservice to our rookie QB, who needs better protection AND better WRs ASAP. There is no longer time to "be patient" while waiting for comically over-drafted stiffs like Wallace & Laydown and the aforementioned three to "develop."

As almost always =), spot on. He will probably go to the bills or queefs and light it up. I wonder if these dolts ever thought about how constantly rotating people in/out ****s up continuity and the group gelling. I don't get it.

Guy was great in Minn….comes here with No OL and a backup like Brissett and I think everyone had expectations that he was going to blaze down the field in 2 seconds and Brissett could chuck it down there and he was going to make a difference in that scenario….so yeah I think he got kind of a raw deal but he also seems to be a douche so……but couldn’t we at least get SOMETHING in trade for him?!?!

Seems like a case of a real bad fit. I can appreciate more how a receiver (or any player) needs to be picky about where they go ... to the extent they have control over it. Seems like bad luck with Osborne. But a lot of guys go for the bag with a **** franchise and it so pretty.

I agree that something is not right with Osborne and the Pats. He has not produced and is a bit of a locker room problem, why keep him? Osborne had his chance the first few games he started and did nothing with those opportunities. At this point there is more benefit to keeping a WR that no team was interested in. Time to learn about the other WRs on the roster, they can't produce less.

If Osborne were performing better, I still think that he should be gone. If he were playing better, we would have gotten a pick for him.

His function was to provide a veteran presence, rather than playing only youngsters. Osborne also was an emergency option if none of the youngsters were developing. Bourne is back. Boutte and Douglas are playing OK. There is no need for Osborne to take WR #4 reps. The few #4 reps that there are will/should go to Polk and Baker (and perhaps Thornton).

I suspect the locker room problem is that he came here expecting the winning locker room culture the team used to have, and when he got here discovered those days are long gone and far away.

How will we replace his production???

Was he great?

In Minnesota, Osborne played alongside an all time great (Jefferson), a wiley high volume vet WR (Thielen) then a talented 1st rounder (Addison), and a borderline top 5 TE (Hockenson). He also played with a couple of of decent to very good recieving backs in Mattison and Cook.

Is it possible he was just the beneficiary of being the 4th option on an elite group of weapons?

He’s a jag player who nobody wants. If he doesn’t want to be here then just release him.

He had some good games in Minnesota. I doubt he is as bad as some make him out to be
I don't think he's bad, but he's definitely an under-the-radar role player and we're just not set up for that right now. And if we're determined to play the young guys over him, I can understand his frustrations.

“Survived the trade deadline “??!! The guy wants out if here so bad he’d buy his own “Greyhound” ticket!!
