People always use the Rams, but the Rams put themselves in a situation where they were able to buy like a 4 year window before paying the piper and they got two shots at the Super Bowl. You can do that, but you also need a solid base as well. The Rams had guys like Donald and Kupp who were cornerstone pieces that were homegrown.Teams can sell out and buy a Championship In Todays game Ivan. Yeah it's short term and cap hell in the end but the Rams did it. Also Miami tried but injuries and series of unfortunate events did them in. That said I hope they Trade for a Starting Tackle on a Underachieving Team: a player that would just step right in.
The Patriots do not have anybody on the roster close to those level guys to be the anchor for all the add ons.
Also, let's be real, most teams that win a Super Bowl, were developed very well draft wise and internally before they started splurging. Patriots, Eagles, Patriots, Chiefs, Bucaneers, Rams, Chiefs, Chiefs. Those are the last 8 Super Bowl winners in order. The Patriots, Chiefs, and Eagles all were mostly driven by drafted guys. The Bucs added Brady/Gronk/AB, but they had a stacked roster already. They did go all in that one year with people they acquired, but what drew Brady there (and in turn everyone else) was what they built already. Then I already explained the Rams.
The best way to win a Super Bowl is to be excellent at developing a team from the draft on out. If I go backwards, you have the Broncos, Seahawks and Ravens in there as well.
