Schefter: Drake Maye to start vs Houston [Also reported by Rapoport, Reiss, Kyed and others]

Washington like us is a rebuilding team. So wasn't Houston last season. I really believe that the organization had enough of of sample size on the QB position to evaluate where maye was as opposed to where Brissett was. Teams make changes all the time at QB. The Panthers made a switch and it ignited thier offense. I'm not expecting us to suddenly go on a winning streak. But expecting to be far more competitive on offense.

We cannot compare New England to Washington. Daniels was in college for five years and I think he started most of that time.

Also, Stroud also was a more NFL ready QB when he went to Houston and Houston had been building a lot of young talent between years of high draft positions and a boat load of picks from Cleveland in the Watson trade.

The Panthers' offensive resurgence lasted one game. Andy Dalton was ok vs the Bengals and awful this past weekend.

But I don't care about wins and losses this year or temporary bump in offensive production. That is irrelevant. The aren't going anywhere unless Maye surprises and has a near Jayden Daniels type of year.

He would be a 2 year player for us. Polk is Drakes WR.. having Adam's could have a Steff diggs impact for maye like it did for Allen. You feel what I'm saying?
I get what you're saying Wolf went after Ridley and Aiyuk... D Adams is better than both that's one way to set a young QB up for success. Look at Chicago they have surrounded Caleb with some very good WR's. I'm warming up to the thought our ultimate goal is setting up Maye for success you do that by putting very good players around Him and Adams is a very good player.

Aside from the Fumbles Rham was having a very good year and Gibby is a dual threat. The RB position seems set and should be the emphasis on Offense with Maye passing off Play Action. H Henry - Pop Douglas - Bourne and Polk should be Factors wouldn't shock me if our Offense raises some eyebrows on Sunday in a good way.

I am more worried about the o-line. Not that Maye risks getting hurt. I am more worried about if they don't give Maye enough time, it will cause him to develop bad habits (or keep the ones he had in college).

We saw how the o-line ruined Mac. Mac stopped stepping into throws because he didn't trust the o-line. Mac may be the extreme of this, but young players developing bad habits is not rare.

Washington had a fire sale on their Defense last year and they moved on from one of their WR's how are they so good in 24?? All points to the QB.

Alright so we lost Center David Andrews but at least our Guards are in their right positions RG Michael Onwenu and LG Siddy Sow. Our OL is not exactly a Barricade but I think I they'll get better weekly. With Maye behind Center we'll see how AVP Schemes now we have a lot of issues but our scheme left a lot to be desired. AVP all eyes are on you and your play calling we'll see if he's the right OC for Maye.

They have no left tackle, no right tackle, no center, and a rookie QB has to make the O Line calls. That’s ****ing stupid. I support this regime, but this is a terrible decision, made solely to placate crybaby fans who “ want to be entertained.”

The OL didn't ruin Mac...BB and Mac ruined Mac the OL Jones played behind is a far cry from the current one.

They also have beaten the Giants, Bengals, Cards, and Browns. They haven't beaten a team with a winning record yet. So that has a lot to do with their win loss record.

The o-line played a big role in ruining Mac. It wasn't close to the biggest reason, but I think the o-line played a big role in his inability to step into throws.

Your shots against me are becoming specific Ivan but to each his own. When Maye plays don't judge him against the Almighty judge him against the alternatives.

Teams are not the schedule makers you play who you are scheduled to play. I never buy into such takes the AFC Least Sucked for 20 years during Brady's dominance guess there should be a asterisk "*" beside his GOAT designation.

Sure, but I have yet to see them beat a good team to know how much of their winning streak is because they are good or their opponents have been bad. The Pats showed in the playoffs all those years that they were not a product of their schedule. The Commanders haven't shown that yet.

I think the Patriots caved to fan and mediot pressure. We can't know whether management and Mayo caved or whether it was management that caved and Mayo couldn't stand up and do the right thing. It's a mistake to start Maye in October behind that line and with that "corps" of Receivers.

But now "it is what it is."

Hopefully, this is a case where Maye can be like Peyton Manning, who turned a 3--13 first season into 13-3 the next year and a HOF career, and not a case of a highly-valued QB who never reached his potential because of bad decisions and bad coaching.

We lost Two winnable games where better QB Play would have been the difference Seattle and Miami. I feel this Team is going to respond to Maye in a good way.

Agreed, the Commanders defense sucks.

This happens every year, the first month of football is an extension of training camp. Real football begins now.

I think we can. Washington changed QBs like we did. Changed entire staff's like we did. Heck even changed ownership. There are alot of comparable you can take Rob I wouldn't dismiss this. On CJ he was told just like Drake he'd have to develop and sit. He beat out Davis mills and caserio even said he was NFL ready. The Panthers offense is still better under Dalton. Daniela was a 4 year player becuase he transferred to LSU. I see many comparables to Washington as a organization and us as an organization.

Yes! That's the big Picture. Surrounding Drake with talent he's our present and our future. Adams can be had for less than a 2nd rounder and the more he stays on LV the better for us. I think Wolf should absolutely look into it.

We may win more games with Maye, but doesn't necessarily mean it is a good thing for the long term to start him now. Again, it could have no affect on him long term vs. sitting him a little bit longer or he could even benefit from it more. I am just stating it is a risk and the risk may end up being far greater than the reward.
